I have stock 3:08 gears right now and am thinking about going to 3:55. Are there any other things I need to think about before I make this swap?? Can I just swap the gears??

I think that you can just swap gears. The computer can compensate for two steps. (Or this is what I have been told) 3.08-->3.27-->3.55

3.08-->3.27-->3.55-->3.73 this is three steps and this is where you can run into computer and driveshaft issues.

Do the J-mod, you should anyway, then the tranny will shift quicker and you can use whatever gears you want with no chip. The problem with changing gears has nothing to do with confusing the computer. It has everything to do with the computer knowing when to shift so it doesn't hit the rev limiter. If you put different gears in, and the computer tries to shift at the same spot, you can hit the rev limiter. But, if you do the j-mod (or other shift kit) the tranny will shift faster and you will be fine.
