I just saw some thing on TV about moving your battery to the trunk and they say you should use a gel cell because of the fumes. This is some thing I will be doing soon, so is a gell cell necessary ? I don't have a huge sound system if that matters but I do have under drives.

batteries can leak hydrogen gas. hydrogen and anything that could possibly make a fire means BOOM.

I'd say the risk is minimal, but yes, a gel cell is safer.
