A few days ago I listed my old "Jerry Chip" for sale in the Parts Forum. I've been a little out of touch with the older stuff, and having found it in my office, I figured I'd sell it.

So far 90 people have looked at the post, with no replies. Based on Ebay experience, that usually means a) you're trying to sell a Packard Bell 286 computer with 4mb of RAM to a MAC G-5 user, or b) there's an Anthrax warning label on it.

Comedy aside... is this thing just totally obsolete? Shame on me... I saw Jerry 2 weeks ago at JBA and forgot to ask him if anyone can still program these things. Any info is appreciated - toward the decision to keep the sales pitch going, or welcome it to my paperweight collection. Here's the page with the info for convenience. Thanks in advance for your help.

well,
thats one of the older diablo blank chips there are less and less people using those. you might have a hard time finding someone that will buy it cause they will have a hard time finding someone to change the tune in it.

A. i think because 86.38957698% of the members here didnt even have a drivers license when Jerry did chips for us, therefore they are typically clueless.

B. Way too many n00b members want stuff for dirt cheap, I for one have given up on selling LED panels and Fuel Rails because the price is at "market rate" and many of those who want/need the parts want to pay the price that I paid without putting the effort to attain the part. and............

C. Both A and B.

It would depend on the specs the chip was burned for to begin with. If AJ can shed some light on that, perhaps it'd help.

I don't need it as I have an SCT chip and an XCal2 with the PRP :D

And would that be a Gen 1 or Gen 2 chip ?? I believe Jerry offered the Gen 2 for higher octane fuel .. and I see that you are in California as well. The California chip will only work on a California EEC if your car has the calibration code for that.

The Chip Debacle...

OK, well firstly, thank you all for replying. All good information and feedback.

~ Great O thank you for your wisdom, and a fine bit of Calculus. You're probably pretty close! I didn't even think of the age/time issue. Good point.

~ Sir William; I can only be very basic with what I know about the parameters the chip has. 30lb injectors, 80mm LMAF, PI heads, 91 Octane California fuel, when my car was automatic, he did all the Jerry magic on the shift points and increased the speed limiter. That's about all I have for info.

~ CJC; your question IS the question. Who can still tune these older chips, where, and how much.

~ Dan Pretty sure it's Gen-II

~ Kermit; Roger that. Understood.

Thanks again... AJL
