I recently bought a ger convertor that fits a 03 Mach one transmission. I've repinned the harness to fit in my 96 Mustang Gt.
The first problem I've encountered is the convertor doesn't line up with the flywheel. I drilled out the flywheel holes and there to close to the curve of the flywheel and they won't tighten down all the way without makeing the engine bind up. I just wondered if anyone has run into this b-4 with one of these convertors? The engin turns over by hand easily until I tighten up the convertor to the flywheel and the I can't move it a inch.
Any help or input would be appreciated.

You need a different flexplate. J.miller can tell you what you need there or Dan Newman. Good luck with the GER.

I'm suprised Ger didn't say anythong about it. I talked to a tech to order it. I guess customer service is a lost art.

I'm trying to be nice ,but you should have done some research before buying anything from GER. They probably didn't know that your 5.4 has a 11&3/8 pattern and you need a 10&5/8 pattern to mount the 11 inch cover to it.
What did that thing cost anyway?

Why would you ever get no lockup on a 4R70W??????

Oh, and your problem with no being able to get the converter to seat and not bind up the engine......The coverter is not fully seated.

Well its in the car right now so I'll have to remove it. I've wasted my whole weekend messing with this thing. The convertor itself looks prett beefy but the welds look very poor compared to a old P.i convertor I have sitting on the shelf.
I think I'm going to put a stock 01 Gt convertor in it that I have lying around just so I can drive it again.
The reason I didn't get lock up on mine its primarily going to race 1/8 mile tracks and be driven on the street very little.

That '01 GT converter will have the same problem as the GER one. Both are the same bolt pattern. I'm sure dirtyd0g will correct me if I'm wrong.

Well I just matched it up and the 01 Gt convertor will work with the flywheel. I think I'm going to calll it quits today and call Ger Monday.

That doesn't make sense. A GT converter shouldn't fit either. What flexplate do you have on the 5.4 now?
What engine did your Mustang have originally? If it was a 4.6, you can use that flexplate if you had an automatic.
Can you measure the distance center to center on the GT and GER converter bolts? You need to measure 2 that are opposite each other so your tape measure crosses the center of the converter.

Well I called Ger today and talked to the rep. I repeated the same info to him I had earlier. That I was running a 98 Expedition block and crank with a 03 Mach one tranny. The gentlemen said that my engine was a older aod-e bolt pattern and that he made the convertor for the smaller 4r70w flexplate. He told me to send it back and he will fix it but I have to eat the frieght.
