Well a salvage yard is shipping me a set of 96 thunderbird headers. But here come the questions....besides welding in bungs for the O2 sensors, what else needs to be done? The reason I ask is that right now the motor is out of my 94 for rebuild and it would be much easier to install the new headers on the stand instead of in the car.... I could start the motor and do the 20 minute break in cycle on open headers. Any ideas?? What needs to be done?? Thanks guys!

you need to make new downtubes from the headers to the exhaust and an egr tube from a 96 it was like 45 from the dealer, i am removing the cats with just pipe. going to weld in the o2 bungs right after the headers. should be putting mine on in the next week i hope, will let you know if i get it finished

yeah i know that that is the only place to put them the stock cast ones have them in the manifolds. jba doesnt make headers for v6's and they are tubular stainless from the factory which are most HEADERS tubular stainless

HMMMMMM.....Big dilemma! It would be a big PIA to install the new egr tube and headers while in the car...But if I make some sort of adapter so the O2 sensors will see the exhaust I can break it in on the headers and then just head down to the exhaust shop after break in. Not to mention I will get to hear that new 4.2 cam with open headers!!
