I got my rear window tinted today(5%) I ended up taking it to 3 different place because no one could get it right. I had 20% on the doors and 1/4 glass and nothing in the rear before this. I put 5% on the 1/4 glass as well and now you can not see my back seat from the side or back lol. I am not overly happy with the tint on the rear glass at all. It has some bubbles and some fibers/hair stuck between it I think I am going to go back and have them do it again. I will post pics up later on tonight, for 60$ I guess it could be worse but I cant deal with it looking like this.

I got 17% all the way around. Paid 120 bucks with a lifetime warrenty. I had to drive two hours away but atleast they had a nice flea market! I wish it was a little darker in the summer. Gets rather hot down here.

Always use window cleaner that's safe for tinted windows....It'll say it right on the bottle. If the cleaner doesn't say "safe for tinted windows" and you use it the tint will eventually turn purple...

I myself like to use Stoners "invisible glass"....I've had my windows tinted now for around 4 years and they're still as black as when i had it done.....Oh yeah....It costed me about $200.00 for my 5 windows. I did the windshield myself (2%).

the last car a got tinted myself was my 89 Cougar. It cost something over $120 for some quality 3M dark/non reflective tint on the sides/quarters/rear. that was 6~7 yrs ago. I drove it for 4 yrs after that. It might have developed a very slight purplish ting to it after 4 yrs of sitting outdoors in the FL sun everyday.

$60 bucks, was that for the sides/quarters/rear? If so I'd be wondering what kind of tint they used for only 60 bucks? The birds rear window is alot larger and looks like it would more of a PITA to install as well...

As for bubbles. Small fluid bubbles evaporate away through the film just give it a week or so. I imagine it depends on the weather temp too. anything else trapped below the film is there to stay. Either get used to it or ***** and moan about it and get it replaced.

P.S. I second the Stoner's "Invisible Glass" (or whatever it's called) glass cleaner. Works wonderfully and leaves NO streaks or residue! Worth the money IMO.

I will give it some time to dry and see how it looks before I do anything about it, $60 was for the rear and the 1/4's only the doors were already done(so were the 1/4 but i wanted darker) so here are the pics

Not sure about NY, but in Fl they are (sometimes) picky about how dark you can tint windows. I was pulled over a number of times in my Mustang that had limo tint all around.

I had my tint shop (aptly called The Tint Shop) fix up my Cougar with whatever was the limit on tint, and $100.00 and seven years later, it is still good as new.

I got 15% all the way around, nothing on the windsheild, paid $150. I used to talk to state troopers where I used to work all the time and they once told me that they could give a crap about how dark my tint was as long as its not mirror. Mirror is the only thing most of them care about.

Like Eric said, use a cleaner that is safe on tinted windows.....when people use windex that is what turns the tint purple over time.....It is the ammonia in the windex that does this. Also if the tint shop used windex to prep the window before applying the tint, that can also affect the color of the tint.

I have got 20% on the rear i had taken to a shop and 5% rear quarters as well as a 8 inch strip of silver reflective across the windshield and 20% on the door windows which i had done myself....check out the cardomain link for pics

Thinking of doing my own tint. Doesn't seem too hard for just some front windows. I just miss rolling around with my tinted windows in the Cougar. Nice when people aren't checking in on you all the time. Plus on my truck it should be easier to do. A guy I knew did it downtown at night. If some dumb ******* can do it, I can. (Yes dumb, he over inflated a tire, it blew and knocked out some of his teeth.)
