Hey guys my car broke down a few weeks ago and I concluded it was clogged cats so I figured while I was at it replacing the cats i might as well replace the entire thing. So a few days ago I sent it to the shop and got 2 1/2 inch true duals with high flow cats and a di/do magnaflow with the true x core. Heres a video and there are some pics i posted in the pictures thread.

Not the greatest video since its with a digicam but what do you guys think

yeah well my cats were fried so i had to fix them to make my car actually functionable which would have cost atleast 200 anyway so i figured why not...

Not bad sounding. I'da gone with Dynomax's myself.....but the Magnaflos are good too. AT LEAST you didn't go Flowmasters like alot of other's do.

Maybe one day, I'll post a clip of my 97 CAT with numerous motor mods and true dual 2.5" exhaust with H-pipe, NO cats, and Dynomax Ultraflo mufflers....talk about loud. *LOL*

What Magnaflow DI/DO muffler did you use? There are multiple sizes and I love the way yours sounds. Going to get my exhaust done and I want what you have. :)

Yes, what Raptor said, does anyone know what DI/DO muffler he used. I'm looking to get my exhaust done soon and want this setup.

I test drove this car, I believe he has since gotten rid of it, and I loved the sound at idle, but beyond that, lets just say you can tell its not a V8.

Honestly you're diluting yourself if your 3.8 exhaust goal is V8 sound. It won't happen no matter how many combinations of mufflers, resonators, cats, pipe diameter, number of pipes, crossovers, ect. you try. At some point in the revs(usually immediately off idle) you'll still have that unmistakable V6 sound.

Not saying you can't make a V6 sound good (Mandrelbent duals with borlas sounded downright mean on platoribs' SC I rode in a few weeks ago) but if your definition of Good = V8, get a V8.

I like an exhaust that sounds good, and for me V8 doesnt automatically mean good. I love the exhaust sound from my 4.9L (Ford 300) Inline-6 in my F-150 with a Flowmaster 10, its like an angry UPS truck. I want something that low and mean, but not raspy or ricey. I love a 'smooth' sounding exhaust, I hate rattles and clicks and pops and that general 'harley davidson' sound.

I just want something that sounds low and smooth and not like a fart can on rev. I absolutely love my intake noise with the air silencer removed, I'd like my exhaust to compliment that.

And also, my Thunderbird will have a 302 in it in the next couple of years and I want to use the same exhaust, however its alot easier to make a 302 sound good than a 3.8.

Yeah I know the 3.8 won't sound like a v8 but as long as it sounds good and not like a little honda rice cannon I'll be happy, I think this is the best sounding set up I've heard on a v6 so far.

My other suggestion would be to go Mandral Exhaust Systems rear, and order one of their front kits with the X-pipe, planning to replace the front when you swap to the 302.

Front aluminized / cheapest possible, rear stainless, and when you drop the 302 in, front stainless.

That's what I'd consider doing, anyway.

When you install it, do the DIDO resonator in the front, and use straight pipes clamped on the very back instead of rear mufflers. If you don't like that, start with the cheaper glass packs for mufflers and work your way up, clamping them until you get what you want, then get the mufflers welded on.

Well the reason I am getting my exhaust done is my catalytic converters are blown out and I need to replace them before CA smog comes up in January. I figure if I am having someone muck around with the exhaust replacing cats, I may as well have him run something decent while hes under there, considering he's three hours away in Nevada. I have to replace from behind the manifolds.
