I have a 5.0 H.O. engine that I am going to rebuild. I was intending to have the heads rebuilt and ported. Someone told me not to bother with the 5.0 H.O. heads and to get a set of GT-40P heads. Someone else told me that they are very close in performance and not to bother. I'm building a daily driver. The aluminum heads are not in the budget. Any suggestions? Thanks

GT40P will walk all over the 5.0 crap heads - if you can fit the special exhaust manifolds/headers they need into the MN12 chassis which I haven't heard anyone trying yet. GT40P heads have ports alot like the iron Darts I used to have, just a bit smaller.

keep your eye on the corral or ebay. I bought my aluminum gt40's on ebay for $500.

He's building a Cobra so fitment isn't much of issue since he will have to put the headers on backwards anyway.

The difference in gt40-p headers is the tubes go straight out alot farther before turning down. I'm using Ford racing stainless shorties and the driver side doesn't fit without alot of modification.
