And they said it couldn't be done (well, some did). With no tweaking, no gas additives, no cat hysteria of any kind, the Green Monster cleared California smog on the first pass. See the link for more details.

Thank you Allen Superchargers and Scott Graves!

Hmmm... That might be fun. I'll see if I can arrange it. I know that Papa John takes his beast out there once in a while.

Re: the 5-speed setup - these cars are "mature" enough now (I think the term 'old' is
somewhat rude) - that these guys really don't know what models came with auto transmissions and which didn't. Don't ask Don't tell basically. As long as the emission numbers are in compliance, I ain't sayin' anything. :angel2:

I'm betting not. As long as there isn't a blatant display of a galloping horse on it, etc. As I mentioned on the Cardomain page - the smog certification and compliance issue as an authorized test/repair station has become so strict - that many places won't even test the car if they see obvious aftermarket products in the engine. They send you to a DMV "referee" who looks at everything with a microscope and if it isn't C-ARB certified, it comes off. They write a "fix-it" citation and you have x-amount of time to reverse-engineer everything to stock in order to even test it. So people in the Golden State who thought it was cool to cut off their Cats have a bit of a predicament on their hands. Unlike the old days, the DMV refs are pretty sharp, and can wreak havoc on a heavily modified car.

The ricers get it the worst (no loss). CHP bust dozens of them a day for pulleys, turbo boost, intake, tuning program, etc. They know that crowd is only out to race and raise hell, and they beat the snot out of them in these parts. I think your airbox will be fine.

It really is totally ridiculous. In truth, properly modified cars are probably running cleaner than stockers most of the time. It's all about the state making bank on all the bureacracy and b.s. There's a fee attached to everything. I mean really... does Joe Blow DMV guy lose any sleep because someone has a K & N intake on their car?? Probably not. They devote all this state funding and personnel to smog compliance, but we still have the worst traffic congestion on planet earth. Explain that one to me. How about a few bucks for another lane on I-5??? That makes too much sense. But hire 1000 DMV "Geek Squad" types to fan out and bust the guy who has a "non-compliant" fuel pressure regulator. That really helps all of us. Like anything - politics, money, b.s. and agendas. I guess not unexpected when your Governor is an Austrian-born former film action hero.

Hey Anthony, I'm not defending Ahnold but I'm thinking that the goverment in CA has been run by envirowhacko's out there for the past 30+ years and it's the laws they passed that are causing the problems every driver is facing.

Grats on passing them BTW.

Oh I agree. Actually Arnold is doing a pretty good job in Sacramento. It was really just poking fun at legislature. I'm a native here, and I remember Edmund "Jerry" Brown who publicly dated Linda Ronstadt, and was thought to be gay. He was a pretty good Governor though. Not anything like Ronnie Reagan - but OK.

It IS the tree-hugging EPA whackos who come up with all this pseudo-science to support their multi-billion dollar initiatives that result in what we all deal with on the ground. In 1967 it hurt to breathe deeply on a hot summer day, and it still does in 2006. If that is any kind of a "litmus test" then I'd say that all the smog reduction hoo-haa is just alot of political static.
