Anyone know if I can use Mercon V as a power steering fluid in my 3.8L 94 lx??

Let me know ASAP please

I've used it with no problems. I'd just make sure to flush all the old fluid out first though. Where you been? :D

mercon v as in transmission fluid :2huh:

I coulda sworn my manual reccomends TYPE-F Trans. Fluid as power steering fluid. That's what I use. $ .88 a quart at Wal-Mart, and boy does she have an appetite for it!

I've used Mercon V in there, but that's way too spendy for something that leaks it badly.

BUT, it's not the best to have the power steering fluid and trans. fluid being the same color. Not as easy to identify leaks...

used to work in a factory that made and bottled fluids, granted was the cheaper stuff but its the same formula

nope, the owners manual specifies mercon fluid.

From the factory they receive mercon III fluid, and you can flush with that if you choose.

I chose to flush to mercon v in all my ford vechicles because it is a better fluid.
