I need to get my power steering pulley off on my 96 3.8 bird. I can't figure out how to get it off. Do I need to take the hex head bolt off the pulley, then just slide the pulley right off??? I can't get that bolt to budge. Or do I just use a puller???

Thanks

Yeah, you need a puller. You can get the loaner one from the autoparts store (Autozone has a program). Since I have multiple cars this will work on, and I keep cars forever, I got this from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=40749

Below link is just the puller part, most PS pumps have the installation parts, BUT they suck compared to the installer from the above kit. I don't know if it will work for your needs. The first above linked one is what I have used on 5.slow and 3.8 PS pumps on 89 Cougar and 89-90 Grand Marquis/Town Car.

are you replacing your water pump? if you pull the PS pulley off, you may have a hard time getting it back on. i unbolted the PS pump and alternator as one big piece, and let it rest off to the side carefully. theres 2 nuts and a bolt behind that bracket. hunt for them. i used a 15mm deep socket for the nuts, and a 13mm socket for the bolt, iirc. they are kind of hard to find and remove, but its doable.
