Anyone here get into home theatering? I am sure there is. I just made up a site for my "low budjet" home theater because I was bored. How does it look so far?

My Home Theater Site

Anyone have pics of their setup?

Oh and as for the big speakers in such a small room, it was a deal I couldn't pass up...lol. Lets just say I love HH greggs policies!!!

:D

Oh and does anyone else visit http://www.hometheaterforum.com ?

Well until I got my car, I put most of my paycheck into my home theater. I started off with a small home theater in a box but have been slowly upgrading different components. Your setup looks good so far, although I've always prefered Sony. I'll try to get some pics up. I just went through last week and cleaned all my stuff, the dust looked really bad.

I just completed my setup 2 days ago and didn't get a chance to play around and tune it during the day yet. That's the only time when I can turn it up and mess around with it. I will take some pics tomorrow.

My setup:

Sony WEGA 36" Hi Scan, Vertically + Horizontally flat screen TV
Aiwa Dolby Digital Receiver 80x5W in Surround Mode <---weakest link
Sony Hi-Fi 4 Head VCR
Sony DVD/MP3 Player
Sony Center Channel with...
Sony Voice Matched left+right mains
Sony Voice Matched left+right surrounds
Aiwa 5MD Changer/3CD changer shelf system (powering the subs) 60x2
Fisher Hi-Fi Audio Monitors: 15" woofers, 4" midranges, 3" tweeters (pointed towards the wall and are used as subs at this point)

I just upgraded to the Sony Speakers. And can't wait to power it all up tomorrow.

I am jealous...lol. I need to start upgrading stuff soon. I definatly want a new big screen tv, sub, and a reciever one of these days.

As for sony, I am not to big of a fan. I have had a lot of bad luck with them and just don't like there stuff. Not saying it's bad or anything, just my opinion. I do love the PS2 though! Even though it is starting to act up..

If I get a new reciever, I will probably get either Onkyo, Harmon Kardon or some other affordable higher end brand.

95LX have fun!! (trying it out for the first time) :)

I am also going to have to dust soon and take some new pics, but I'll wait until I get a new entertainment stand, cus that one is embarrassing...lol.

As for the big speakers, well I went to HHgregg to get some crappy jenson 3 way floorstanding speakers that were in the sales ad. I got there and they had none and said they never did. So there policy is to give you the next best thing for the same price. Well they had to skip up like 3 times because they had nothing in stock. So I walked out with those babies for 150 bucks!!! They were 249.99 each regularly. I LOVE them too. SUPER BASS! 300 watts RMS and 600 total for each speaker.... but never get to really listen to them because o stupid neighbors. Oh well, I'll be on my own soon.

You aren't the only one who has had bad luck with Sony.

I have a technics reciever and I have had no problems with it.
Don't discard this brand in your decisions. It is high power and extremely clean, as well as easy to use. I love this reciever and I can only turn it to about halfway on my sansui speakers(1" tweeter, 5" midrange, 3" horn and a 15 inch polypropelene coated canvas woofer).

As for the theater system I have a poineer dolby digital surround sound system with subwoofer. The sub is the best part of this system. It is two opposing 12 inch subs. They face each other and are sealed togather. The rest of the box is ported. This set up is not the most accurate, but for its size(13"x13"x7") this thing is thumpin.

Do we have any musicians out here? If you want to talk power I have a Bass Amplifier that will blow some roofs off and shake the foundation loose.

I play a '00 Fender Jazz Bass Delux Five String
This, my baby, plays out of my hartke ha3500(350 watts)
and a hartke xl410(obviously 4 tens)

That thing can rock the house.

I also have a 60's ampeg B-112. You know, the one with the flip top head. That thing is good for some pretty neat tube distortions.

Sony ES Receiver STR-GA9ESG

Sony Dolby Digital Standalone Decoder

Infinity BU-2 Subwoofer

27'' Philips TV

Philips DVD Player

Sony DirecTV unit

Sony ES 50 CD Changer

Aiwa Cassette Tape Deck

Hundreds of dollars in monster cable.

Its not totally complete, its pretty loud but needs more power, another standalone sony es amp will do the trick.

Ok, here's my pics...

They're a bit on the large side. I was in a hurry and some are a bit blurry plus AOL compressed the you know what out of them. System
Left Main
Center Channel Left Surround Left Sub

The reason my subs are pointed towards the wall is because my Yellow Lab likes to eat away at stuff when he's bored.

I fooled around with the system today and for the first time when I run the noise test, the sound flows smoothly from left to right across the front. I used to use the silver Aiwa's as my mains and a small center channel full range speaker. It was awful. Now the silver Aiwas are used for stereo applications only and also to keep the Sony mains on the same height level as the center channel. :)
