I did the hoopdy ram air mod from http://www.shadoweb.net/tbird/alscoop.html. I still have the stock air filter and what a difference. Adjusting it to point the right way was the hardest part because it was a tight fit to put together so i had to keep pulling it outa the car and turning it little by little till it was right. Including the air silencer removal a week earlier it was mayb a 1 hour and 30 min job. Very easy. This was the first mod i have ever done on any car too. (I do have expierience wit small rc methane engines though). Before the mod with a broken 1-2 spring (neck breaking shifts) it wouldn't even break the tires loose on the shift. I got the tranny fixed and it still wouldn't do it. (no supprise since it shifts like a granny now). Did the mod, and now it will break them loose easily with the stock filter. I cant wait till i get a K&n. It really didn't help at all until about 35. It does pretty much nothing at low rpms because the engine doesn't really need all the air its getting. At about 3500 rpms it really starts pulling though. At about 40 if u stomp it, when it downshifts it will REALLY pull. Would really help for passing on a 2 lane. Also, after you do the mod and haven't reset the compu, it will run like crap. I could harldy get it to rev past 3500 in park. I moved it into my garage, unhooked the bat for 30 mins and took her for a reset spin. Although I accidently left it in second for 5 mins and was wondering wtf i had done to my poor engine, after that it went well. (its hard ass hell to pull out of a intersection in second. I was stomping it too trying to get the compu to get new settings.) I suggest this mod to anyone. Well c what my air filter looks like tommorrow. Also, how bad is it to drive in rain? any chance of getting water in the engine? because I know thise will twist every because water dont compress.
