That sucked.

If you're 16 and get really excited by boobs, enjoy. I wasn't scared once and the only suspense was the last 20 minutes with no real climax. Ugh.

ok here is what the local 'hoistel' deal went.

first off i live in florida and on a friday night my local movie theater has about 8 cops up there. now not only were they checking id at the box office, the had cops at the door of the theater checkin id to make sure everyone was 17+. yes the first 30 minutes was pretty much softcore pr0n and the gore effects they did were great, but the movie overall sucked balls. quentin better tighten up =]

I saw it last night, but wasn't too scared. In some scenes I laughed at the cornyness. Like when the dude is rushing the "hero" with a chainsaw and slips on blood and whacks himself. Oh man.... But I give the movie 3 out of 5. Interesting to see, but nothing to write home about.

Quentin didn't direct this remember, just produced it. This was directed by Eli Roth, star of "Tales From The Crapper." (didn't make that up)
Quentin, as producer, brought in the actors, location, tools used on people, but the assembly of them was just horrible. Yes, the first 30 min was full of hot naked women, but I was with my wife and a female coworker. I was never scared, never jumped, only closed my eyes for the "toe." Just when I started to have hope, during the "escape," nothing. ugh.

Hostel was great IMO. If you are really religous and don't believe in sex, nudity, violence and gore, you won't like it. I thought it was great though. The best horror film I've seen in a while.  It had some funny parts in it as well.

I can do worse than that I saw
Spiderman 9 times (the first one when it was still cool)
Sin City 8 times
Terminator 3 6 times

I could do a lot of mods with the money I spend on movie tickets every month.

I've seen some pretty bad movies--Motel Hell, Battlefield Earth, Plan 9, Vanishing Point, Night of the Lepus--but Hostel is without a doubt the single worst movie I've ever seen. I have no problems with on-screen nudity or violence, but this movie was nothing more than porn for people who get off on grotesque violence. I've never considered myself a prude, but I guess I just don't understand anyone who thinks it's cool that a movie shows a guy getting his leg hit with a powerdrill, or a torch to the face, or toes being cut off. It's just sick, and I mean clinical sick. Go see this movie only if you're an aspiring murderer. It was one step above a snuff film. It was not scary at all, just disgusting. I don't think I've ever been more pissed at myself, either, because I spent 8 bucks to see a movie I knew I would suck only to prove myself right.

You must have never seen "Open Water"

It was a movie and nothing more

Because many of us know it's only a "Movie" and that it is all fake. None of the characters were actually hurt you know

It's just sick, and I mean clinical sick. Go see this movie only if you're an aspiring murderer.

I'm not a murderer and I liked it. You must be really religious

If you knew you weren't going to like it, you shouldnt have seen it.

Geez, man, chill out

Nope, I've never seen Open Water.

Agreed, it's a movie and nothing more, but I just don't understand why a movie like that exists.

I obvously didn't mean this was an actual snuff film. That's why I said the movie is one step above.

I'm agnostic, actually. Which of my comments had anything to do with religion? I don't have to believe in Jesus to think that there can be a point at which violence becomes gratuitous.

You're right on your last point. I should have known better than to watch it, and I blame myself for that.

Look, I may have used a bit of hyperbole in my post, but I do that from time to time. My point is only that I thought the movie sucked. If you saw it and liked it I do not actually think you're likely to become the next Ed Gein.
