I was wondering if there is anyway I can tell if my engine was replaced before??

I have a 94 DIS ignition...I hear that all 94-95 have distributors...I figured that was because my car was Cali emissions....But now I'm wondering if that could be the reason or maybe the previous owner replaced the engine with a 96 or something??

I know that shawn40th had a little recycling symbol on the top of one of his heads on the motor. This means that the engine was replaced. He took a good pic of it, but i can't find it.

see if the VINs match.

EDIT: oh and check with your local dealer. If the engine was replaced at a dealer, they will be able to get those records. Ford keeps records on car to help diagnose problems.
