Well I got my transmission all installed.. Havent been able to pick it up yet. Tomorrow after work I will! :)

Ok here is the deal. Last summer I got my car dynotuned.. They set the shifting soo f'n hard that I figured it cooked my old tranny that alan now has :) Well anyways I no have a fully jmodded 01 gt trans with a 3800 stall tc. No 1-2 spring, no 2-3 spring. Now with that fully modded and a super hard shift set by the tuner.. How hard ya think it will shift? BTW im sporting a 40k trans cooler now to help.

pretty f'n hard.

correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt a higher stall TC soften the blow a little bit? And, furthermore, the more torque you are making at the flywheel, the softer the shift as well?

Anyway, if it shifts too hard, drop the pan, slap a lower 1-2 in it, and get over it.....personally, i dont care to be chasing my car's tail around every corner during 1-2 shifts in the rain, so I have my lower 1-2 spring thank you very much.

With that converter the shifts should be mushy until you go WOT.

That converter is going to take a lot of the harshness out of it. I have the same setup in my Mustang and it is perfect in my opinion. My 96 bird and my 95 Mark hit really hard on the 1-2 without all that stall.
You may have an issue with the computer throwing a code until it either learns that the rpm's don't drop during the shift like it is expecting or you have the program adjusted for it. I had that with mine.

After J tuned mine, without the 1-2 spring mine was shifting pretty damn hard.

That was with 3.73s, MMX shaft, Marauder TC at the time..

Anything over 1/2 throttle was pretty harsh...

I have noticed something worth mentioning here:

My old 94 tranny in my Mark VIII, with 350 JMOD, and no lower 1-2 spring was so wicked, I remember PM'ing JL to ask him if i was gonna break something.

2 days later, I reinstalled the lower spring. The shifts were perfect for me like that(stock TC)

That old tranny eventually puked the forward clutch seals, and has been replaced with a nice 98+ tranny.

Now, here's what I have noticed:
my new tranny, built to the 350 JMOD specs, with a lower spring in the 1-2, no 2-3 spring, and a Mach 1 TC, doesnt shift as hard. it is still firm, but not as firm as my old tranny with a stock TC.

So, I am thinking the shifts buttered up slightly due to the TC. Can anyone confirm my suspicions? The shifts are still firm enough to please, but no way will it chirp into second like my old one did at WOT. So, thats why I suspect the TC since it is the only real difference.

Also, I noticed, although the 2-3 set up is the same now as it was with my old tranny, the 2-3 shift is slightly delayed. The shift begins at the right time, but seems to take longer to engage 3rd. This is only at part throttle. At WOT...the 2-3 shift is perfection.

Again, I think this is due to the TC,

ok...here's your thread back! -------------------------------->
