I purchased an item from a seller on ebay that had 100% positve feedback. I thought I was safe and the item (a foglight switch) was only $10.45 after shipping. How long should I wait for the item before leaving negative feedback. I'd hate to do that and then have the item arrive at my door the next day or so. I bought it on the 8th and payment has already gone through. I believe the guy was in Wisconsin or somthing, it was a U.S. location.

Have you tried to e-mail the seller? I've done that when I haven't seen or heard anything in a week. Whether it's through eBay or an e-mail they have listed in the auction.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you add a reply to your feedback or something? If you haven't heard anything from him at all within the next day or two, I'd leave negative feedback. Any e-mail's you send, try to save a copy though with date and time just for your record. And be ready for him to leave you negative feedback as well.

Have you contacted him to see if it shipped? :2huh:

And if it went through the mail... It probably didn't get in the mail/USP until the 11th at the best (the 10th was a holiday) so I wouldn't even be looking for it until later this week.

I believe you have 90 days to leave feedback. If I am going to leave negative feedback, I usually wait 89 days... so they can not leave retalitory negative feedback.

Have you contacted them to see how and if it was shipped?
I have had very bad luck with things sent through the Post Office.
I bought something on Ebay and it was shipped to SoCal from St. Loius. It took a month for me to finally get it. I have had birthday cards from relatives never arrive that had cash in them. My inlaws sent a package from SoCal to MO and it took a month to get there. Half the stuff was broken and it had been repacked twice.
My latest incident was a registered letter sent to us by my inlaws with a certified check in it. They did not even attempt to deliver it the first day, only left a note in our mail box. My wife went the next morning to pick it up and they could not find it. One excuse after another. They did finally find it later that day.
The postmaster said that a regular package sent parcel post could take as long as a month.
My 2 cents. Don't use the post office unless you want to wait a long time or risk not getting your package.

Yeah, it would be total crap to leave negative feedback without at least trying to contact the guy. This may have gotten lost in the mail and he has no idea. Besides, this is only a little over a week into it. Anything could have happened.
Have you had any contact with the seller at all? Was there any indication that this would be shipped immediately? Have you gotten an email or anything that says that the item has been or will be shipped? Did you tell the seller that you needed or would be expecting it this soon?
How would you like it if you sent someone something in a timely manner and they didn't even bother to ask you about it and left negative feedback because it didn't get there in their timeframe?
Just an FYI, if you go leaving negative feedback on stuff like this and are flat wrong, it will hurt you because they will leave negative feedback in return. As they should. You can leave a comment in feedback, but you can't undo negative feedback as far as I know.

Ive got his contact info. Most of his other feedbacks said that it was quick shipping, so maybe it is a little lost, Ill contact the guy and ask if he sent it. When I do get it, it was a great deal, a factory switch that was never used with the origional packaging for $10.

If the guy's got 100% positive feedback, I'd definitely wait even a few more weeks, and definitely don't post a negative until you've exhausted all other means. Who knows - the guy might be sick right now, or any number of things...

Darrin, your pm inbox is full, I was wondering if SCT has ever made those tunes available yet. Just wondering, Bradd

Nope, the firmware update is out but the actual software to do it all isn't. I can still send the tuned computer and wait for the updates to the Xcal if you want.
Sorry about the inbox. I fixed that yesterday after I saw that you tried to PM me.

10 days is my limit. I don't care if I tarnish someones 100% feedback. If e-mails go unanswered, thats just more fuel for my fire!

Well, its been nearly 2 and a half weeks, I have emailed him with no response. Im mad cause I lost a little bit of money. I will be leaving him negative feedback, and will be sure to tarnish his user name along with it.

Did you send those e-mails with an electronic "return receipt"? How do you know that he has even received them?

Do you have his real name, and if so, have you tried to find his phone number?

Before leaving negative feedback, you should CONFIRM that he is ignoring you, or deliberately not sending your item. He could be out of town, on vacation, in the hospital, or otherwise detained.

Leaving negative feedback on eBay can come with serious consequences (such as a libel suit) if you are wrong with your assesment of the situation.

.............Just food for thought.................

i've never heard of that

leave the guy a negative, he will then turn around and leave you a negative, this will at least get his attention, then you can mutually remove the negatives after the matter is resolved

I was under the impression that once feedback is posted, it can not be removed.

Nope, they can be mutually removed. Say person#1 gives person#2 a negative feedback, even if it is for a legitimate reason, person#2 will go ahead and give person#1 a negative just because person#1 gave him one. Then both of the people can agree to have them mutually removed, this is where the feedback system falls apart. If you buy something and never get it and leave the person a negative feedback you can be almost guaranteed to get one in return.

In one of those resistor in a box "Performance chip" sales the guy bought two, it screwed up his computer (duh) and he left a negative stating such. The seller left a "Deals in child porn" negative on the buyers account.

Here's a copy and paste from eBay's tutorial on feedback:

"There's one thing we should tell you: the information in this tutorial shouldn't be thought of as legal advice. If you have a specific question about whether your feedback comment may violate eBay policy or could be considered libelous, please contact a lawyer"
