I would estimate I have around $10,000 in my car. If I paid someone to do all the work it would probably be about $15,000.

I paid $1,000 for my car (a steal), and have dumped $2,419 into it in a few short months. I'm far from done though.

SC: $4200 purchase, $1200 for motor and rebuild, $2000 for tranny, $500 in ignition repairs and probably another $800 in other repairs. So ~$9000 on a car that's not running. Oops forgot first tranny $800.

5.0: $2000 purchase and about $1000 in repairs.

Wow, Do you really want to know?

I'm the original owner and I keep really good records so I've got a reasonably accurate list of what everything's cost me over the years.

But, by no means, is this list complete. There's also speeding tickets, court costs, attorney fees, insurance, gas, oil changes, property taxes, and interest paid on the purchase loan.

So, having said that, here's the "incomplete" list.

Purchased the car as a new 1995 model in September of 1994: $17,300

Well, now that I've gone through the saved bills from the local dealerships, I've come to realize I've had a lot of work done to mine over the past 5 years. lol

List:
Sometime in '05 Car...free as of yet. Parents still technically own it for insurance purposes(cheaper). Dad drove it as his DD since '03.
Sept. '06 diagnose and replace MAF $413.11
summer in '06 sparks, plugs (Bosch's), new serp. belt $150 (my dad and I did this one)
Jan of '07 collision repairs $2,780.29 (got T-boned by a Toyota at 35mph, my fault)
Feb. '07 oil change $26.51
May '07 Spark plugs, wires and diagnosis $592.19 (spark plug wire rubbed against serp. belt)
Aug. '07 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports 225/60/15 $416.40
Sept. '07 oil change $26.48
Nov. '07 replace fuel filter, repair horn, state inspection $232.04
Jan. '08 transmission flush, turn front rotors, replace pads $348.40
Jan. '09 diag. suspension noise, replace L/F upper control arm, both links, repair pass. door handle $916.50
Jan. '09 new shocks and struts, alignment. $686.40
Oct. '09 diag. and replace lower control arms. $741.95
Nov. '09 state inspection, replace battery. $186.57
Dec. '09 new tires, same BFG's $595.36

Jan. '10 subwoofers and enclosure $135
Feb. '10 install wiring for amp and subs $190
Oct. '10 diag. replace engine mounts $815.28
Nov. '10 New O2 sensors $80 estimated (lost price)
Nov. '10 state inspection, replace wheel bearing/ hub assy. $554.62
Nov. '10 replaced fuel filter, tools $20 (I did it)
Dec. '10 New rear upper outer control arm bushings $71.58
Jan. '11 install said bushings and perform J-mod $235 (Thanks RobertP!)
Feb. '11 patch tire (just to have it replaced two weeks later, road trip) $31.33
Feb. '11 new tires, Firestone Indy 500's in 235/70/15 $393.16

Grand total: $10,648.16 This does not include all the insurance payments and tax and license plate renewal payments I've made since I've been driving the car. Also doesn't include the 97 in a 65 ticket and costs. lol All the oil changes after '07 are done by me. I'll need to replace my front rotors and pads here pretty soon. Hoping to add exhaust over the summer, if I can get hired for a job, and install the PI intake manifold. I was working a job while I was in high school from '05 to '07. After that, I was burning off of what I had saved up. Thankfully, I get a living allowance from the gov't for going to college full time, but only when I'm in school. I've been driving this same T-bird since I first got my learners' permit at 16. When I got the car, it had just a hair under 70,000 miles logged. Now she has just over 120,000 now. Since my dad first got it, I have always loved this car and always will.

1200 for the car
300 heads
100 headers
100 MAF
100 radiator
100 mark viii rear
100 mark viii tc
100 merc v fluid
90 misc suspension parts
75 fluid damper
75 throttle body
70 j-mod parts
65 PI intake
60 PI cams
45 tranny cooler
45 CAI
40 tail lights
40 brake lines
40 rear spoiler
30 gatorback belt
30 flex plate
25 intake gaskets
25 water pump
20 driveshaft
20 clear corners
20 IAC valve
15 mud flaps
15 alt pulley
10 w/p pulley
10 EGR valve
10 EGR tube
10 fuel rail
10 upper plenum

So, I'm up to $3000 or so, but I'm sure there is much more I can't think of (cause it seems like I'm ALWAYS spending money on her like for the three sets of tires that I've bought for it since I've had her)

I've also got a bunch of parts that I haven't put on yet or are going into my new engine that isn't on that list.

Oh yeh, and don't forget the hundreds of gallons of oil I've poured through it because I STILL HAVEN'T CHANGED THE HEADS.

...This thread reminds me of how poor I am.

Let's see -

92 Thunderbird Sport - $350
New fuel Pump x2 - $250
2 newer tires - $80
Oil - $25
Brake Booster + MC for convention swap - $100~
New driver-side A-arm/Ball joint (lol not getting both sides) - $30
Old saw to cut off mufflers - $5

So, about $840 bucks since I started driving it in 08. It wasn't driven for 2 years before I got to it, and they put in a new lock cylinder (i think?) for the ignition. As for everything else on the car, it's stock. I've put more in for gas times 30000000 I've put into the car ever.

My front end squeaks, my radiator leaks like crazy, my power steering has dead spots in it randomly, and now I've been getting noticeable wheel hop from the front when I try to give it the beans. Uh oh.

I don't like driving it like this, but can't do anything about it without a job.
