Not sure what else your problem might be, but I can tell you that the computer I bought for my car last august was like $160 from Smyth Automotive and it has a lifetime warranty.

ford factory one runs about $315 new depending on calibration number.

autozone now sells ecu too for about 100 to 120.

I got lucky and got one on ebay for $10 shipped. They can be found on ebay often for up to $50. I had the car in the shop a few months ago and they thought the ECU was dead and said it was $250 for just the part. Thats for my 95 though.
Check junk yards too.

mine went bad and gave one of my fuel injectors a constant siganl to stay open. The car ran crappy and really, really rich.

that's generally only a 94 thing, there was a defect.
