How do you properly bleed the air from a 95 4.6 tbird, the only opening to the cooling system is at the overflow, and I'm hearing opposite opinions on whether or not you can leave the top off with the engine running.

It's fine to run the engine with the reservior cap off, what you DON'T want to do is remove the cap when the engine is running, since the reservoir is pressurized just as much as the rest of the cooling system. The way I to burp it is to let it warm up with the cap off, squeezing the upper hose until the bubbles in the reservoir stop coming up, top it off, put the cap on, take it around the block, let it cool off(depressurize) and repeat.
