hello all,
is there anyway to check to see if your chip has been reprogramed ?
the reason im asking , my car had 74,000mi. on it when i got it, and
i have noticed that it seems to like 89 octane much better than 87,
i get 3-4 mpg better on the 89, and it has a lot more power too. i havent
tried 91 octane yet, afraid it will like it :) also did some research and found
out that the car came stock with a non loc rear. but it has been replaced
at some point, cause it does have a trac loc rear in it. also i noticed the
other day on the back glass where a sticker has been scraped off of the
back glass, but looking close, you can still read, NASCAR , thats all the sticker
said. i havent rode in any other birds with the 4.6 but i will say, this car will
get up and go, to me its fast. i did run with a friends 89 lincoln LSC and he
couldnt out run it. i couldnt pass him either, was kind of a tie. anyways,
could anyone input on this for me ? just curious
thanks
Frank

You don't have a chip stock. A chip is an add-on that hooks up to the EEC. Your EEC could be reprogramed, and you can tell because it will throw a code, 511.

hmmmmm i dont think the car ever had a chip, or had the eec reprogramed. it sounds like it had the ultimate bolt on, THE NASCAR STICKER! that has to easily add 50hp, now if you add a wing with that and your looking at 75-100hp easy.:D

yea right, i think i will put some cobra emblems on my fenders, maybe that would be good for 75-100 more hp

My car never did like regular gas. It would throw some stupid egr code if i ran regular in the winter time. I also would picked up a few miles to the gallon myself when i went to the higher octane gas
