So I just bought a 1995 Ford Thunderbird with the 4.6. The owner says that the previous owner replaced the engine at 110k. How do I tell if its another 94-95 engine or if Its a newer one. Its my understanding that the 94-95 engines were a bit different.
Look underneath at the block skirt towards the back of the engine, if it’s a 96+ engine the block will have visible cross bolts for the 5th main cap right near the bellhousing, if it’s a 95 or earlier block only the first 4 caps will have cross bolts
