I’ve been told my stock 86 mustangs has about 160 HP with throttle body fuel injection, and I noticed in a thread someone mentioned that an 89 T-Bird 3.8 N/A would have about 120 or so HP stock.

Does this mustang engine have more potential than the T-Birds engine or was I misinformed?

TBI 3.8 V6 mustangs, cougars, Tbirds only had 120hp. SEFI 3.8L's (88'-98' had 140-150hp). Split port 3.8's 99+ have 190-200hp and ALL have 210-220ft-lbs of torque

yes, everything will bolt on jusdt fine BUT you will need a CUSTOM fuel rail and swap to a DIS ignition ( the split port upper will not clear the distributor I believe, unless you use the 4.2L one which will not clear the hood)

I'm not quite sure, but after looking at the pictures of PJ's 4.2L swap the 4.2L intake just barely clears the distributor and its quite a bit taller than the 3.8 intake.
