I'm thinking of having my original hubs and rotors redriled so that I can switch from 4.25 to 4.50 pattern when I'm ready.
All I'll have to do is pound out the old studs, then put in new studs in the new holes.

Also if I ever need to change them back to stock, all I have to do is change the studs again.

You don't need to change the hubs anymore to get big brakes on birds and cougars. Supercoupe Performance, DiscBrakes R US and KVR all have kits to fit our bolt pattern. I purchased the 13" 2 piece rotor/4 pot AP caliper setup for the front along with the 12" bracket kit for the rear 2.5 years ago, if not longer for my 95 Bird. I can understand changing the hubs for strength issues, but then again with a set of beefed up axles from raxles I'd probably need a nuclear reactor bolted up to the rear to make it go "pop". Just my 2 c.

Cheers,

D

If you go with Mustang wheels the offset will be off by 12mm, as most Mustang wheels have a +24mm offset. The 03 Cobras are only off by 10mm (+26mm offset). I had mine machined to remove an additional 5.5mm from the hub surface, so mine are tucked in just right. Also, I recommend going with a 245mm section width tire for the front. Assuming the wheel is 9" wide, any tire narrower would not fit the wheel properly, and any tire wider would have rubbing issues. Here's what they currently look like on my car with 245/45/18 all around. 17" wheels will be similar except for tire aspect ratios, of course.
