So i win the auction for what is STATED 98 MUSTANG TRANS W/CONVERTER REBUILT. I'm happy i won and after
a little shipping delay it arrivies boxed nicely and on a
pallet. Just made a little hole took in and saw a brand new
pump and i was happy. Well after a few weeks i decide to
move it and i then find out its for a 5.0 with the two bolt
starter pattern. So what do; bring it to a shop(Long Island
NY if anyone has any recomendations) and have them
swap the internals into my 97 MARK VIII about how much
including r&r or sell it and start over and OR maybe rebuild mine although mine does not have a mechanical
diode.
any advice or shop refferals appeciated

thanks much

If it was stated to be a '98 Mustang transmission then you bought the wrong transmission. A standard '98 Mustang has a 3.8 liter V6 which has the same bellhousing as a 302. What you need is a Mustang GT transmission.
Unless you are in a hurry, I would just sell it and try to find a 99up Mustang GT 4R70W. It's much better than the pre 99 4R70W.

Before i placed my bid I asked is this from a GT- YES
IS it for a 4.6 motor -YES
Does it have the updated mechanical diode -YES

EITHER WAY INEED TO FIND A GOOD SHOP TO SWAP

Sorry, all I had to go by was "98 MUSTANG TRANS". First thing that I would do is contact the guy and find out WTF is going on. He might just cooperate and make things right.
