What year is your car???? engine size??? etc, etc. There's always Nitrous Oxide Systems, or go Turbocharged. I'll prefer turbocharged (if you have the money):p . BUt if you wanna go "cheap" try the NOS....
Get a reprogramed chip and buy a driveshaft of a Mark VIII, there's always alot of options... It all depends on how much you want to spend..... Good luck.....!

ok no offence but u just repeated my questions second a turbo is a lot of money im lookin for cheaper things and all a new balanced drive shaft will do is preventing the drive shaft from exploding when u go over 110 mph like it is sopost to.
im lookin for hp for around 200-300 bux im in 4.6 forum so i have a 4.6 1994 lx i have
ud pullys

to be honest, with only 200-300 bucks you aren't going to see much in hp gains, 1-5 hp would be feasible maybe, but you have a good bit of mods already. A Mark 8 Toque converter is good for freeing up a couple hp, and will also allow the rev limiter to be set a tad higher in the comp. Nitrous is a mod you could do that would be worth 50-75 safe hp gains when you wanted to play with it. But then you're looking in the area of 500 dollars. The problem is, as you go along, the more mods you get, the more expensive mods become. I am talking Real HP, not the stuff the advertise on the box.

your in the same situation as me man. I want to do more but everything else is like $600 or more... torque converter, gears, drive shaft, 99+ motor, etc. I dont like nitrous, just not my flavor. I guess ill just have to play with what I have for now.

twice now, so here goes...

You've now run up against the financial wall.
You've done all the "right" mods and you'd
still like to improve your engine's power or increase your car's acceleration.

Unforunately the choices remaining to you are all expensive and
more than $200-300. Gears, TC, Heads, Supercharger are your
most realistic options. Nitrous will give you the most bang
for the least dollar cost and I think you could set up a system for
$300.. you'll have to talk to the nitrous boys about that and I'm
not sure that it would include a new fuel pump or pressure
regulator, if needed. Also it doen't include a chip reburn.
But it's still the least expensive way to make a fair amount
more power.

Because the 4.6L's heads are so restrictive there's very little
left to you that's inexpensive. You really have to increase
your engine's head flow capability and/or increase compression,
or add a power adder like a super charger or nitrous. There
really aren't any other options open to you.

Have you considered the Mystery Mod for your tranny yet? Just a thought because I haven't seen you mention it. I think the Mark VIII Tc can be had for about $200 (don't quote me on this, I'm probably wrong) and the tranny mod would only run about $100. Just some thoughts.

except I'm really not sure that most tranny shops would R&R a
TC for $100.. on the average. Maybe... but my impression, is most
would want more. The other problem is...that TC's can reduce et's by
a range of 1 to 4 tenths depending on their stall and the engine's
power and torque output.

If my memory serves me right...an engine with the mods listed
above, with a Mark VIII TC will produce a stall speed in the
area of 2100 rpms and might lower your et by 1 to 1.5 tenths
which would be an "equivalent" of a 10-15 hp. So even if the
install cost $200 for a total $400 - that's not a bad deal.
So, overall, I would have to agree with you!

Of course, I was told that even on a stock engine that the Mark VIII TC can drop closer to .25 to a full half a second from your ET. that extra stall speed, plus getting the chip reburned for the higher shift points that the Mark VIII stall allows, I plan on doing it pretty soon myself. :)

But then again, it also depends on how fast the car runs inthe first place. Take mine for example

really depends on how much more time the new TC allows you
stay near the power curve. With a strong engine you could pull
the 4 tenths I mentioned, but not with his lightly modded stock
engine - not enough power there to knock his et down by that
much.

Eh, could be. but I'm still factory bone stock (except for the air silencer!) so I plan to do it either way, even if it doesn't drop much off of my ET.

I suppose your car's ET is so high because of the altitude huh? I never really thought about that before but that would make me feel bad in a 4.6L, maybe you should come down from that mountain so you have a chance. My car ran a 17.- at 83mph with just the air silencer removed. I'd hate to see what it would do at 3,000 feet!

Heh, not a mountain, just a plateau. :) Ever been to the Odessa/Midland area of west texas? I live in Odessa, and I think half of my ET trouble was the fact I was trying to learn to launch the car at the same time. First time out to the track but I want to go again this month and see what I can do by icing the intake too.

Yo Tx_Cat, look under the Events forum for the Ennis Tx thread. There's a Fun Ford event in Ennis during September that RichardM, me, and a fwe others are going to. check it out, I'd be happy to me up with you can convoy. (I know the route is a little out of your way, but I'll be living in San Angelo during that time. Interested in joining us?)

The old rule of thumb is 2-3% hp loss per 1000' of elevation. Of
course that doesn't account for temp differences.

Go for the TC! I wasn't saying anyone shouldn't do it - just
that the eperience of the old guard ran about what I suggested,
with a Mark VIII TC that raises the stall approximately 300rpm.
EXPEXCT a 1/10th+ decreased ET. If you lower your et by a lot
more (and anything's possible) that will be oustanding! Just
make sure to adjust your ET for temp and altitude to compare to
your baseline. I'd like to hear how you do and I hope you pull
some great numbers!

Ennis Texas

Ennis Texas has a lot of Chem-Trails.

Thank you U.S. Government....Thank you a lot!

When you are there look up at the sky a couple of times....

Notice anything a little "weird"?

MM Hmmmm
