I just bought a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo from a guy I work with.

The only real problem was the idle. He told me the IAC was shot, so you had to drive with two feet. Anyway; I changed out the valve, but the problem is the complete opposite. Now in park, it runs at about 2500 rpm and in drive, about 1200 rpm.

I heard that sometimes new IAC valves need to be "set" before installing them.. anyone know anything about this? The pintle on the new one was retracted much further than the old one I pulled out.

I suspected the TPS, but it seems to be shifting just fine.

No CEL, but I'm running outside now to see if I can't get any codes.

Ideas?

Nevermind, I got it!

Just had to pull the juice to the computer and make it re-learn. :D
