I was on vacation for a week in Sebring, FL with family and I must say (I did spend some time in Miami also), I have NEVER seen as many nice and fine vehicles in one area as I did in Miami, FL. I found a dealership called Prestige Imports that had 2 Prowlers, a SRT-10 Viper, many Porsches, a Ferrari, and others. Jaguars and Mercades were common.. Very common, and I noticed another "common" vehicle:

The H2 Hummer.

I must ask those with brains, why, why do people buy these things? They are big blocks of metal on 4 big tires made for offroading; however, I doubt many EVER see dirt. What is the purpose of the H2? I call it a waste of gas.

Anyways, anyone live near Sebring?

Feels good to be back home though, I had to drive my gparents 2000 Buick.. After 300 miles the dead like interior and quiet engine were killing me. I was sooooooooo Happy when I hopped back in the T-Bird when I got back home!!

Glad to be back!

Sebring is in the middle of no where. Not easy to get to but as the crow flies lots of us are near there.

I say the same thing to my wife whenever we see one around here. Like they need something that big. But hey.. I laugh whenever I see one pull into the gas station.

Yeah, not much to do in Sebring, but I went to Holmes Beach with the woman.. had a great time there, and we went to Miami.. Which f'in sucked (other than Prestige Imports), due to us having to go to my Aunt's.

I was actually considering looking for a career job after college... Know any good towns? I was thinking outside of Tampa.

Why do people in Miami, much less in south florida buy Hummers?

Answer, because they can, thats all that matters. Welcome to my world, sir.

I go to a university 70 miles north of Miami. While sitting at a redlight in front of the mall in Boca Raton, I looked over to see 3 S430s all sitting next to each in the turn lane into the mall. Thats the nature of the beast, everyday is an interesting day.

did you get to do anything else in Miami?

I live, work and go to college in Miami. When I got to work in the mornings its like a freaking car show. And the H2s? Give me a break. I probably travel with 30+ every morning. I feel like I am escorted to work. I would much rather have my bird than a H2. I used to go to camp in Sebring, lol, you went to the wrong part of Florida. I was born and raised in Florida (all over) and Sebring is not the best vacationing spot.
In miami, the question is "who can spend the most money on being a dumba$$?"

We went to go pickup a 97 Lumina w/ 6000 miles at my Aunt's house. Her past husband had some weird money saving habits.. How does a few hundred thousand in the bank sound while living in a beat down trailor park sound? He passed though, so shes finally spending a little bit of it.

We also ate at Ramano's Maccaroni.. Not really good unless your really into that stuff.

Hey if you got a free car, it was worth the trip.:D

As far as your uncle, there are many people like that. Old school money. Probably never grew up with it and when they get it, they usually are afraid to spend it, because they are afraid something may happen. Especially if they grew up during the Depression

When I worked in Manhassett, a very affluent area on the the north shore of Long Island, NY. All old money. Most of the people that came into the store dressed like they shopped at the Salvation Army Store and were very thrifty in their purchases. Many would get upset at the prices. Then leave the store, climb into their Mercedes or BMW and go back to their 7 figure plus homes. What their priorities are.

Dude, this guy had NO priorities other than the American Legion and Alcohol. He wanted to be buried with a thing of Jack Daniels and was. I could go into greater detail.. But that'd take too much time.

You guys safe from Hurricane Charley? It looks like it is gonna be a big one!

Weather Channel as well as local news are calling a Charlotte Harbor landfall, so it looks like for the first time since 1968 we may get a direct hit from a hurricane. I'm out of the state right now, but my family is hunkered down as well as my friends...I'm just a little worried about a girl I'm friends with, she lives almost right on Charlotte Harbor in Punta Gorda and if there is a 15' storm surge like there may be she'll be in some trouble.

My bro just called me on his way back from vacation in Ft. Myers, Florida. Apparently, that's where the big storm is going to hit any minute now. He said that on his way out, that the weather was actually good enough to go to the beach again. The first storm fizzled out I guess. He is around the Pensacola area right now and he says it's beautiful weather. However, during his whole vacation, it was raining. :( I'm just glad he made it out of there OK.
