So I have the engine out and heads off and am in need of a little guidance. The HG's blew, and some coolant got into the oil, no surprise. I have the oil pan off, so without taking anything apart in the bottom end what should I look for as far as warning signs or damage from the coolant? I am not prepaired to do a rebuild now and need the engine to last another year or two before I do it. Also, I want to flush out any coolant or residue from the block, and was planning on pouring oil down through the lifter valley and let it run out the bottom and change the oil after 100 or so miles of running. And any recommendations on cleaning the carbon deposits off the pistons and heads? Gunk doesn't seem to do any good, and I am scared to put oven cleaner of it, especially the aluminum.
