as most of you know, i work in the parts dept of my local ford dealership. i was considering swapping in the 4.2 cam. what i found is that, according to ford part numbers, the 97-03 f150 4.2 cam and the 89-95 3.8 tbirds are the same. 96/97 cams are different. so, i guess, in thery, that i should not use a ford cam, and therefore probably get one from rpm-mustangs. any input, or contradictory info?

The f150 cam should NOT be the same as any 3.8L unless ford decided the 4.2L cam would be a suitable replacement for the 3.8L cam. I personally would go with an RPM cam, they are fairly cheap.
