Ok I was told by the mechanic that the piece on top of the engine that hooks to the intake-throttle body assembly is called an airhorn. Just curious how much one of these run $? Ive contacted Dan Newman, but he is gettin back to me on a price today. Im just curious to know how much they are.

Zip Tube or Air Tube if you mean the tube that goes from your air filter box/MAF to the throttle body to supply air tot he engine.

Its not a tube..its more like a rectangular metal piece, mine for example has a plate with 4.6 OHC on it..it have connections that hook up to the intake,etc

That's the upper intake...not sure what it is from Ford...4 or 5 aftermarket companies make "performance" replacements, so if you are looking for bling you'll be looking at 130-220 new or so.

Intake Plenum, Upper Intake, Upper Intake Plenum, Doghouse, all names that I'ave heard for it. Never heard "air horn". But you /are/ in Alabama.

suposedly more horsepower and torque.

your better off going with an after market plenum. check out trick flow, c&l, accufab or dragon. the trick flow plenum is only $149 and it comes in a silver finish, a black finish, and unfinished so you can polish it if you want.

Hey, Ive looked up Plenum and the photo and what part I am referring to does not look the same. It is the part shown up in Palmguys post, but mine looks totally different. I just want to make sure of the correct part before I order it and it be wrong and then have to go through the hassle of gettin the correct one.

thats the right part. i'm not exactly positive what the correct name is but its referred to as plenum, upper plenum, upper intake, intake elbow, etc. but when i said plenum i was referring to the rectangular part that says 4.6 ohc on it. that trick flow plenum will fit fine.

Same thing. Palmguy's is an aftermarket (C&L I think) plenum. The one from summit should be good.

My apologies for the confusion...I was talking about aftermarket parts in my post and then forgot to mention that mine was aftermarket as well...Yeah, it is a C&L.

the proper ford name is upper intake plenum im pretty sure thats what the ford catalog has it described as, but not posotive, i could look it up but i just am to tired to right now

I've always called it a throttle body.

In the pictures above what's the thing that comes off of the front of it and bends 90* and goes into the airtube?

throttle body is the piece, obviously, connected to the piece that says 4.6L OHC but that actual block piece with diffrent fitings going into it and the iac on it, is called the upper intake plenum, the IAC is the piece the rubber tube from the intake goes to also another obvious one
