Been having troubles with my abs light staying on, and the abs pump cycling on continuously. Diagnosed it from the archived discussions to probably be the ABS pump relay. Took the relay down to the dealer (local autoparts stores don't stock this relay) - anyways I asked him to test it before I forked over 102.32$$$$$.

He brought it out to a mechanic, who said " I can't test it unless it is hooked up to the car".

My first question, is how can I test it myself - I've got a voltmeter.

The dealer then said, that I could run the car without the ABS, by leaving this relay unplugged. I did that, and drove it to work today - 25 miles - it seemed just fine.

My second question is can I just run this car without the ABS functioning - without affecting something (besides not having ABS)?? Until I get this pump relay thing worked out.

Thanks

Yes, you can pull the fuse for the ABS, since you don't want to leave the pump motor running. It will burn out.

I got a used relay out of a junker for $35 or $40. Napa wanted $88.
