Me and my dad did the jmod on my car, we also put the mark viii TC in. We drilled it to mild specs. My dads shop is in Venice, FL. about 15min south of Sarasota. Right now I am at USF. Let me know what you think, I would also like to meet a fellow TCCoA'r (if thats a word)
sounds great to me. I have met a couple of others that also race with me at bradenton motorsports park. Do you know where that is? I want to go to sunshine speedway some time but its only an 1/8 mile track. Whats your major at USF
Well venice is not that big, so I don't know how to describe that to you. LOL, at the moment i am in tampa. But to get really specific about where in venice, i am right near east venice ave and the Us41 intersection
Hey guys whats up? I would be interested in doin the JMOD along with you guys to my 94 Mark. I live in Tampa on campus at USF. Would any of you guys that live around here or go to school here be interested in meeting up? Also, does anybody have access to air tools and a lift? I need to change out my bushings in the front end of my car. The vibration at high speed from the worn front end is seriously depressing! Anyways, if any of you want to meet up for lunch some time or come to my apartment and have a few drinks and talk cars, give me a ring at [email protected]
P.S. I am a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering at USF.
Hey whats up all.....I will be puttin aFRPP 3.73 aluminum rear end in my car this week and then I will need to do the J-mod. I will probably do it next weekend or weekend after. I have airt ools and the like but no lift, just racing jacks and jack stands. If you guys want to do the jmods call max at five star and get parts in(480-946-3900). Mine was like 80 $ for everything w/o deep sump pan. My email is [email protected] let me kn0ow whos interesetd and I can try to set everything up.
by the way I live in bradenton at the moment off of I75 and state road 70. I will be moving to tampa to go to USF in Jan.
Sup reaper, I live over at Jefferson Commons. My dad is in venice he has a shop with all the air tools and a lift he is the one that did my jmod for me. Palm guy the converter was definelty a seat to pant difference for me. you can definetly feel a difference above 2500 rpm when it starts stalling. Kind of like a very tiny turbo LOL. I can help you guys out with the Jmod since i have seen what it is like in the tranny and all that good stuff, but I didn't to the reverse or the OD servo
I have a couple friends who live over in JC. I was considering living there this year but my apartment on campus is cheaper and has more room, so I opted for this. Also, I'm sure you have discovered by now that very little work gets done around there!!! Last year when I rushed my fraternity we had parties over there all the time. There wasn't a day of the week I could visit that place and not find atleast one party somewhere. Then again, THAT IS THE COLLEGE LIFE! right? Well anyways, I'm already havin enough trouble with my courses,... I'm in the middle of stressing out over a calc exam I have tonight at 5:30. I'm about to shoot myself over this stupid sh*t involving implicit differentiationd, partial tangents and derivatives, and of course multi-layered fractions with rationals and multiple variables when you are looking for a simple single lined derivative of just one of those variables! <---- Rethinking the whole Mech. E. idea here!
i hear ya, i have a physics test on wednesday, got a 86 on my calc 3 exam so i am pretty happy about that. I am a computer science major, they screw us over cause we need a B average in all the calcs, physics and english. The prosperity in the future is the only thing keeping me goin.
Hey reaper and ashish. You guys interested in doing the J-mod sometime soon? Also I'll be going to my local track (bradenton motorsports park) this thursday and id love to get some more T-birds/cougs out there to make a showing against the stangs. I'm in calc3 and physics as well right now and we just had our test on partial derivitives and tangent planes. It was a *****. By the way..... will you guys need a roomate coming up next semester b-cuz I'm going to bying a place up there (most likely a condo 2br 2ba) and I will need to find a roomate. If you know of anyone let me know.
hey sup man i would love to help you out with the Jmod but the latest I can make it would be the weekend of Nov. 7. Gotta a bunch of physics and calc and english stuff for the next two weeks. If I had a few more mods I would definetly join u at the track, hopefully i land this job i applied for so i can get back to the mods.
I'd be interested in goin to the track with u on thursday. I have never been there and would like to see what my car will do. My grandfather also lives in Bradenton so I could stop by his house and visit him for dinner or something. Also, I am interested in the J-mod but won't have the money till saturday when I get paid. assuming I get the parts from Dan by the next weekend,... I would be ready to do it then.
sounds great to me......email me at [email protected] and ill send you my cell number......the test and tune session is 6pm- 10:30pm .......drop an email and let me know if you still want to go.....if not then there is another one on sat but i htink its more expensive.....as far as the jmod goes if you can get the parts ordered the sooner the better...mine took about 7 business days to get here.....im shooting for doing the jmod the weekend after next at the earliest....let me know whats up!!
Yes there are other threads on the subject, but I haven't found one that addresses both at the same time.
I have a 1996 Mark VIII.
It is tuned with Quarterhorse and has dual cat back exhaust which has made a difference up top/on the highway for sure.
Around town though, it is still...
Not sure if any of you have seen this, but this would make the rear hub swap much more affordable. I was going to re-drill my purchased hubs, but @99.95, I'd rather have new with zinc coating.
Maybe I'm just dreaming here, but that's why I'm asking. I've been driving my dad's '99 Explorer for the last few days and I really love it, specifically the tranny. The five-speed auto does a great job of keeping the SOHC 4.0L V6 in it's powerband, and it is sweet to get on it and a shift only...
I was wondering who uses overdrive (O/D) when driving around town (speeds under 55). I am always flipping the O/D button depending where I am driving. Does it cause wear to the trans. if the O/D is disabled for extended times. At constant highway speeds I always enable the O/D.
When accelerating then letting off the accelerate Im getting a slight clunking from the rear of my car, it's mostly when the car is cold, sounds like something is knocking back and forth in the trunk area, haven't got a chance to get her on a lift yet. Not sure if this is a problem people run...
