yeah, I know. I used JB weld on my radiator overflow line, the part where you connect the hose to the radiator broke lose, used some JB weld, it held for like, a day or 2, then I checked under the hood, broken again. I'mma just build something to hold it together, lol!

I love JB Weld and if used appropriately is amazing stuff. I will bond to paint just fine, the question is how well is the paint bonded to the surface its on. As far as using it over rust, I think it will be a failure because the rust will keep on rusting under the JB. How thick the rust is will depend on how long it lasts before failing again. John

Most epoxy's will not hold up to temperatures over 350 - 400 degrees. Any epoxy joint needs the surfaces to be as clean as possible.
IE. dirt, grease, rust or paint free and scuffed to provide good joint adheasion.

Does anyone know if JB weld will stick to painted metal? Rusty metal?
Thanks.
I don't know about rusted, but my old set of foglamps were held via painted bracket to metal bumper with jb weld. They stayed on until the lenses both cracked and I pried them off with a crowbar.

I have used an epoxy on paint. It is fine but I made sure to scuff up the paint first to give it something to grab. I also used it to glue my plastic header panel back together, then my sister wrecked my car and it broke again, but not where I had JB'd it. So I think it is good stuff

The person who committed this vandalism is an idiot! And you, if not responsible for the actual deed, are also on the lower end of the i.q. scale for thinking it was funny and cool for the "extra four days". A large percentage of my tax dollar goes to fund the public school system, and I'm sick of the high cost that vandalism adds to the budget. Yeah I take it personal. My answer to what would be funny----make a honest effort to identify this moron and cause the parents to pay for the damage. You're 34 now I would have thought you'd have wised up by now. John

Well, I use JB Weld to hold my rearview mirror to the windshield. It kept falling off every 2 weeks or so, from all the vibrations(Exhaust, subs, crappy roads). I JB Welded that sucker on there last summer, still hasn't come off. As mentioned above, JB Weld will adhere to paint just fine, but it will only adhere as well as the paint to the surface. Just scrape offwhat you need to epoxy first.

Lighten up Francis!
Your not the end all be all of taxpayers, yes it was a stupid prank but he's going from his memory of a how a 16 year old thought of it.

Maybe you should see someone for that passive agressive streak.

Easy there Tiger! I was just passing on the happenings of the prank. Yes, I did "grow up". I am a full time college student, a father of four and serve in the United states Navy. I still to this day think of the prank, as a master piece of pranks. If I knew who did the prank, I might have said something, because my father lost four days of work out of the deal. I would expect the full extent of the law to someone if it happened again. If my sons thought about doing it to their school or any other place for that matter. I would ground them until thirty. This isn't a forum to hammer on another member for stuff like this. If what you say is true, you are a saint to john and suzy q taxpayer? Never done anything that the old taxpayers had to front? Kept your high school books in the same shape as presented to you? Never went to another school and toilet papered the quad for homecomming. Do you do burn outs with your car on public roads? Taxpayers front that one too my friend. Now, I am not trying to bash back, just it is a bit harsh of you to single me as the culprit and my views of what is or is not funny. You are not my momma and should really take a look at all the other things wrong with the world before you lash out at me or anyother for their personal veiws. I didn't say it was morally right nor did I was it was a good idea. Just that we got the extra time of from school, which in a average high schoolers life extra time off for any reason is the "BEE's Knees".

Yeah, I think that was way out of line to say. Besides that, this isn't what this forum is all about.
