Read the articles over a few times before you attempt it. It would be easier with two people, less time involved also. Enjoy the Mercon shampoo! :D

It Is

The Mod is not just any mod....This is not a universal shift kit that can work on any car...This was designed to work especially for the applications of your car.

There is only one of these mod's....It's not like a mod that is made by companies with different models.

I would suggest you and a friend do it.
Mechanics are not going to take the time and care you will. If you were to go to a mechanic...then go to a reputable transmission guy.

I also suggest putting a Tranny cooler on as well.

alright, what exactly IS a tranny cooler... where do you put it... i guess it's something that's connected to the tranny somehow and the fluid has to travel through the cooler... how much are they... who makes them and where can i get one. LOL who what when were why.

Like Rancherlee said, it's a shift kit and more. It takes out the soft feeling of the shift, you can really feel them. Plus it will help extend the life of the tranny too....and don't forget the cooler! ;)

first....Jim....The J-mod is like what Rancherlee said.....This is an excellent Mod for your tranny (got to the link supplied in the thread above)...It makes your shifts firmer ( you have a choice of how firm) Basically It reduces the amount of slippage and friction in your tranny, along with making the shifts quicker and firmer.....While extending the life of your tranny.....Like I said, it was designed specifically for our cars by the guy who designed our Transmissions. Trust me...it's well worth it.

Spike the Tranny cooler is a external cooler that cools your transmission fluid. The transmission fluid in your car is currently being cooled by a tranny cooler that is currently in your radiator......However, as Jerry has stated, and as many people have experienced, these tranny's get very hot....Hotter than most other tranny's....the excessive heat in your tranny causes the breakdown of your fluid and thus resulting in an overheated transmission...that later needs a rebuild. By adding the tranny cooler and changing to Mercon V fluid...The Mercon V fluid can withstand more heat...and the tranny cooler will keep the fluid even cooler when it gets too hot, because it is mounted near the radiator where there is airflow.....so when your tranny is working and the fluid is getting hot...the fluid travels to your stock cooler and to the added external cooler, the added cooler cools the fluid as the air flows through it.
Cooler transmission fluid extends the life of the fluid and is better for the Tranny.
(Jerry's article goes much more into detail...I suggest reading it.)

I suggest getting a B&M tranny cooler from SummitRacing.com....They are the low pressure drop type(this means if the tranny fluid is cool enough...Then it will not travel through the external cooler to be cooled, instead it will only be cooled by the stock cooler) the reason for this is because you don't want fluid that's too cool either.

Hope this helps a little, but nobody explains it better than Jerry and his article
