I have just bought a 1993 bird with a 5.0L. What are some things I should watch for? It has 115000 miles on it and is bone stock. I am gonna do a few performance mods but mostly just gonna be a daily driver? I have been driving my dad 1991 3.8L for a couple of months and really like it. What kind of gas mileage should I get with the 5.0L (assuming I keep my foot out it) :D

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

Good question...fuel economy varies, of course, but the range, as indicated at www.fueleconomy.gov, is 17-24 MPG. There's a lot of variables that can affect the fuel economy. Since people have asked about this in the past, try a search, and see what they have said. The range I've seen people mention, for the T-bird/Cougar in general, is broad, from about 11-13 to over 26-28 mpg.

Good luck to you!
