I am looking at purchasing a new head unit and would like to get a JVC because of their front usb ports. Why does every single JVC unit on crutchfield say that it won't fit my car? The specific one I want is a tad over 6" in depth when they say the max depth I can go is 6.5". Will it, or won't it fit?

The two I'm debating on:

JVC KD-G820

JVC KD-AR870

I have a JVC KD-G800 in my car and it fit okay. I tucked all the extra wires from the factory and aftermarket harness down where the VMM is. I cut the plastic 'slider' thing thats right behind the VMM and lifted it up to slide the wires to the back and outta the way. If you take out the radio you have in now that might help usnderstand what I mean.

Well I found more information regarding those units and come to find they are about 7" in depth. There is limited room behind the units, but I have always wanted to trim that plastic piece in the rear to make more room for the wire and such. I'm sure I will have to do that for this new unit.

What was the best way for you to do this? There is limited space to fit your hands in where the unit goes. I was wondering if it would be accessible from the cluster side if it was removed. Hopefully doing this won't take long because I will be anxious to hook this new unit up. I can't wait to get rid of this Sony!

My KD-G800 is not even two years old, and it gets 'confused' when a button is pushed. If I push the next track button and it will switch to the radio. I'm looking for something better, but haven't found a good deal yet. Its very aggrivating(sp?)

I've had at LEAST 5 JVCs, and installed two for a friend, because he liked mine. After the first one, he decided he had to buy the second JVC, especially for the price. Also convinced another friend to buy one. I've only had a problem with this DVD player, that it won't play MP3s anymore. Probably a $60 fix, more or less. CDs seem to work fine, as well as DVDs. I've had problems and/or dislikes with Clarion and Kenwood. My brother had some problems with a Blaupunkt, but he even had to send it in to get fixed after he initially bought it used.

Personally, I've been planning on buying the AR-870 as soon as funds are available. The PicT software is amazing, you can use videos to make quick screen savers. And I love the USB input. However, I bought my RAZR and an RCA Lyra and they're my media players. I can hook my Lyra into my head unit through the auxiliary input.

I've read there are many features packed into this head unit and that it can be a little overwhelming to learn each one. It should be shipped out tomorrow and arrive early next week. Then on Thursday the JL 12w3 should arrive and be installed. Hopefully, I'm done upgrading everything again.
