Koni front questions

My Koni front inserts came in.

- Reading the instructions from Koni's website say to drill the hole at the bottom of the old shocks. On my original, stock sport shocks, there appears to be some sort of "nipple" right where the hole is to be drilled (circled in picture). Are people grinding this thing off first, or leaving it, then drilling right through it?


- The Konis out of the box seem a little too easy to push in. I understand they haven't been adjusted yet, but even at the softest setting I wouldn't think you would be able to push in the shock by hand (which I can). I can't even do that to the worn original shocks. Are my new Konis defective?

- Everyone talks of cutting the top of the old shock with a hacksaw. Anybody ever tried a tube cutter like this? It just seems like it would be so much easier. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xjl/R-100004464/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

Drill through the nipple. Be sure to use Thread-lock on the screw when you put it in.

Hack saw is fairly quick and easy, tube cutter usually leaves a huge lip on the edge .. but either way needs to be filed off a little bit after cutting.

The fun part is when you drill through that good shock for the first time ... :tongue:

What about being able to compress the inserts by hand? I'd hate to discover my inserts were defective after installing them on the car.
