My terry cloth covered breathers on the rocker covers wern't cutting it, and once saturated with oil they didn't flow well enough to relieve crank case pressure, which caused numerous oil leaks.

In addition to fixing all the leaks, Dan Saitz over at Hyperformance modded a set of Ford Racing polished aluminum valve covers to accept 12 AN hoses along with a nice Moroso catch can that should resolve the case pressure problems. Also had him add a dedicated oil fill cap, because removing a braided hose to add oil would suck.

I think it looks much better too.

If you took this to the track would they even let you run it 1 pass before getting the boot.

Yeah...I usually get kicked out after making the 1st full pass. Took it to drag race school last week and practiced staging and launching then letting off at the 60ft mark, tires went up in smoke everytime I came off the trans brake.

Sounds like you need to lower the stall a few hundred rpm to make the boost increase after launch rather than be at max boost on launch.

Man, I'd have looked under that hood and said there was no way you could fit anything else...but you got it squeezed in there. Nice!

Is there anything left to mess with on this car!?! It looks like a magazine car under the hood.

Actually after reading the thread I am confused. Is that the auto car or a 5spd?
Alan
Alan,

It's an auto with a full manual VB and 2800 stall non locking converter. Those tires usually bite very good and were the same ones I let Chris Wise use at the Shootout to run a 10.6.

With 2 step set to 3300 I was launching with about 6 pounds of boost. I get full boost at around 4200 rpm and it currently set for 14.5-15.0 psi (street tune). I just don't think they prepped the track because most of the people participating were racing daily drivers on street tires. Next time I'll use the ET streets instead of the radials. This link has all the details on the car and several pictures.

It is an awesome car! I first saw it at the 08 shootout, I think you've said it's making a bit more power since then. Have you guys done any meets at Gateway yet? I want to bring my stang out some time after I get some decent tires for it.

I'd like to see you race against my friend Jeff in his Infinity G35. I've been helping him a little bit with his turbo kit install; he's hoping to have it on the dyno in a few weeks making 750 hp or so at the wheels. I'd be rooting for you to win of course:tongue:

Rob,

It was screwed up the 2008 shootout and wouldn't make over 6 pounds of boost no matter what I did. Found out later there were several issues including bad fuel and a chunk of metal stuck inside the exhaust housing on the turbine side.

Nothing planned at Gateway except to go over on a Tuesday night sometime soon and race my v6 car in the Street car Shootout series (tuner class). A G35 making 750 hp would be something to see and he could race it in the same tuner class.

Are you running a mechanical or electric fan on this car?
Mrk8 electric fan with DCC fan controller and a 3G alternator with upgraded wiring. Also using a Spal 14" pusher fan on the other side of the radiator.
