Hello ladies and gents...

I wanted to post a question up for the masses to read and analyze.

I left my car sitting out over night (had to clean the parking in the garage today). When I finally cleaned everything up so I could park the 'bird back inside, I backed her out.....put her in her side of the garage...closed the door.

I looked at where I had left her....there was a splotch on the floor. I inspected the splotch of fluid. It was Mercon V...about a 4" radius circle of Mercon V. It was wet to the touch...but not like a LOAD of fluid.

based upon the position the car was left in, it appears to be coming from the TC/Bellhousing area. The TC drainplug is tight (checked it last time I was under the car for the fuel tank swap)...so I dunno where the hell this is coming from.

Anyone have any ideas or insight?

*sigh*

I hope this trans isn't on its way out....but.... *sigh*....we'll see.

Tom....shoot me an IM tonight if you get a chance...

Front Stator Seal (TC)
Pump bolts lose/leaking
Pump to case O-Ring
Cracked TC

All require the Transmission to be removed to repair.

Shawn40th's was leaking from the front tranny cover, he had to drop it and put in a new seal. A month later he grenaded the tranny.

My factory tranny started leaking from the bellhousing area also, a month later the one way clutch went on it, and I introduced that transmission to the dumpster.

Good luck with it, how many miles are on yours?

My car is about to turn 80K on the odometer (I've got 79604 miles to be exact).

From what you've all said...this does not seem like a fun thing to have.

*sigh*

Looks like it's time to find a SC pedal assembly and a clutch system.

I'll be removing this 4R70W for a standard....just have to pick a tranny and find the time.

Still, I'm gonna have it looked at and decide what to do.

Thanks for the responses so far.

Anyone else wanna throw some information out?

In any case..... this doesnt look good. :(

*bump*

Any chance that one of those additives like 'stop leak' will stem this issue?

It is not a fix ... but anything to help buy me some more time to find parts and wahtnot ...

Any other ideas ?

I wouldn't count on it. I have NEVER seen any of those 'additives' do anything but separate money from your wallet. This includes cracked block repair fluids (good way to ruin an engine - and god, what a smell), radiator stop leak (linseed is a better temporary fix), or transmission 'repair' elixers (pure crap).

Just bite the bullet and fix it right - you'll be rewarded by a better running car, a cleaner driveway, and money saved on fluids and magic elixers.
