I searched and it seems almost mandatory for blower cars. Are you centrifugal guys running the Lightning ACT too?
Since I have an air-to-air IC, I would want to plumb it in after the IC, correct?
Does this replace the IAT that is in the stock airbox, or is this something completely different? If its going to help things run safer, I need it. So please educate me.

I'm not centrifugal, but as I understand it, the Lightning pickup that the ACT is stock on, is supercharged and is located after the IC. You'll have to have your EEC tuned for it in order to take advantage of it.

Jack,

This is funny, but the Lightning ACT carries a '96 T-Bird part number. So your '97 sensor is fine to use.

The L-ACT is p.n. F6SZ-12A697-A (#474712). So is the '96 T-Bird IAT.

Put the ACT in after the I/C so the EEC-V knows the actual temperature of the air entering the intake/engine. That way your SCT program will compensate for air charge temperature.

OK, My question is how do I install it so it won't just "blow out" for lack of a better term?

Jack,

I can't help you with that. Here is what I did for the AED kit.

Perhaps one of the Vortech guys can get you squared away.

Thanks guys. I'm sorry if I'm asking simple questions, but I'm up at school and my Bird is at my parents house, so I am just trying to go off memory on a lot of these things. I'm trying to have a solid plan so when I get home I can get this car setup and start running an SCT program, at least untill I can get it on a dyno with JW.

Jack,

Well there you go. Just make sure it sits in the air stream far enough so you don't get psuedo readings.

That's what I did, 'cept I didn't actually do it. I paid a machine shop $15 to do it right (I'd mess it up for sure). Then just screwed it in. It has a sealer on the threads.

I've got mine located between the Water-to-Air Aftercooler and the Throttle body which is a pretty good place for it. Ideally it should be installed directly in the intake plenium or one of the runners.
