Where did you get and how much did the AED guys pay for theirs. The local dealership here want's a fortune for one. Are they Lightning specific, or does a standard F-150 sensor work? Anyone have a part number for it?

I believe it needs to be the Lightning one but I'm not sure. I don't remember how much I paid...it was a few years ago.

Whats the reason for using this?..as oppossed to a Cobra one let ssay..Of a supercoupe one./..or....... even factory
At the time the Lightning was the only OEM vehicle that had an ACT in the intake track. If the new Cobra uses one as well I don't see a particular reason you couldn't use it but you need one designed to be in the intake not the intake tube like alll other cars

Here you go...

The ACT is p.n. F6SZ-12A697-A.

Guess where it originally came from?

F6...1996
SZ...anyone?

Hmmmm, after a quick google search, I'm gonna say a 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel? I also found a hit for an Econoline Van with the 351W?

....thanks for the part# by the way. Would you believe my local dealership wants over $100 for one of these things?!?!?! :(

You can search around...

F6SF-12A697-AB is the same as F6SZ-12A697-A which is the Lightning ACT sensor used on the 1999 and up 5.4L Lightning.

This is the Lightning ACT and it is what you want to use. This is made by Motorcraft and it's p.n. is DY754.

The ACT installed in my PI runner.

I hope this helps,

Thanks again A-Train. Just ordered one online for $21 and change. So much for buying from the local rip-off dealership. :D

Brian,

As you know, I'm always happy to assist.

I'm glad I could save you some money.

Slowpoke,

Wait...what...you don't have the ACT yet?

Ok you need to drill and tap a hole in your plenum to hold the ACT.

Then you need a good SCT tune to utilize the ACT. As the blower temps rise the program will retard the spark timing and add more fuel. To be safe.

Likewise, if the ACT's are cool (like in the winter) the ACT sensor will report back to the EEC-V that all systems are a "go". You get maximum spark timing (well depending on other variables).

The benefit doesn't just stop there. Now you can data log a WOT blast and look at the IAT numbers. IAT on the screen will be the ACT and you'll be looking actual blower discharge temperatures after the intercooler.

You can use something as primitive as Auto Tap too.

My car is a 95. My AED kit was with the FMU however with my new modified motor I am going with 42lb injectors..Getting rid of the FMU and getting it retuned. It wasnt so much as do I need an ACT sensor (I know what they do) but that I should move it?..On our 5.0 we would actually move it from the intake to the airbox.

Thats why I asked:O)
Thanks!

That's with a N/A application though. With a blower set up, you want to move it to the discharge side of the supercharger. Metering the air before hand in the stock air box location doesn't take into account how much the air temperature charge has increased after running it through the blower.

We would do it on SC'd cars because it would make thr car run richer as it thought it was running cooler...

Now I dont think the 95 EEC does much with the air temp senseor does it? As far as changing engine parameters?

I'm just nto to familiar with this cars processor thsu Why I'm asking these relatively dumb question:O)
