first take off the door panel. then under the door handle punch out the rivet's center then drill with 1/4 drill bit after that. unhook rod from handle on inside of door take out handle and trim plate. then the lock will come out far enough to remove the c clip that holds the lock to it's rod. but you have to take out the handle first cause the trim plate holds it in and keeps it from coming out. I JUST DID THIS YESTERDAY ON MY CAR IN AUTOBODY CLASS.I am stripping mine down for repaint

use a jack to hold the door when you take the bolts out and get a friend to help there a ***** to do by your self. make sure to get all the wires unhooked before taking off the door so it can slide out the end of the door when you take it off

i have another glitch that i have to fix...

the door i bought is a 96...i dont know what features it came with but the wires that extend all the way to the back of the door are different than those that are in my original door...

the wires that im talking about are these shown below

the wires go all the way into the back somewhere where i cant figure out how to unplug them

and the original door has 6 wires colored as here

the door i picked up from the junk yard now has 4 wires...and they are different color

what im guessing is that either the door i bought doesnt have a remote for the locks or something...but i have no idea what to do...i want to be able to just unplug the original wiring from the smashed door and throw it on the new door...but i cant figure out what to do...any ideas?

yep and the some 96's have a wire for the lighted door locks there should be two molex style plugs and wire the slides onto a post on the lock acutator if you have the lighted door locks

thats where im confused....my 97 car...the one with the door broken...has 2 more wires than the 96...which is suppost to have more wires due to the more lights into the doors...and another problem is that i cant even figure out how to unplug those last wires...they are very hard to reach and i cant even see what im doing.

use a mini maglight to see and you need a flat blade screw driver to pry on the clip and they just slide apart it took me about half day to get both doors of and trunk lid they are not easy.

How the [email protected]#& do you get a punch, let alone a drill in inside the door to do this?
I've got to replace the plastic lever on the back of the lock because mine broke.
I didn't know I would have to remove the door handle trim to get the lock out
