What is everyone running at the stock size of 225/60/16. I was looking at the BF Goodrich Advantage T/A in V rated and the Goodyear Eagle Sport in V Rated. the Cooper CS4/CS5 are on the up and up, but it will be when they go on sale.

I just ordered some BFG G-force Sport tires in 225-55-16 for my Mark chrome swirls; those tires rock.

You have to change the tranny gear for your speedo to be accurate, tho.

I went with one size up, 235/60-16 tires. I like the size, glad I went "up" because with a stock ride it fills the wheel well a tad more.
The General RT-43 tires I bought, wouldnt get them again. They are just basic grand touring tires so they start to lose grip when I push them hard. They do have a nice ride though.

Planing to get new wheels and tires soon. Going to get 17 or 18" and summer tires. Honestly looking back I would have been just better off not buying new tires for the 16's, and getting new wheels.

Had really good luck with Dunlop SP Sports on my last car. They were an overall really good tire and was impressed with them!I dont think they are made in our stock tire sizes though.

I bought new tires for my 215/70R15 rims due to the ones on it being from 2002. Dunlop Signature II T Rated. Standard Touring. I decided on either the Goodyear Eagle Sport or the Advantage T/A both are around the same price, the goodyear has less miles on the reviews for tire rack, so i have to do more digging. Been told the Advantage T/A is an awesome grand touring tire.

I currently have Goodyear Eagle RS-As on two T-birds in 225/60-16 .... and I love them. I did long ago cut springs (1 coil front, 5/8 coil rear) on my '92 which lowered it maybe 1-1/2 or 2 inches which put those tires center in wheel opening. My '95 is still stock so the gap is more, but I have springs to go under it soon.

I have always found B F Goodrich Radials to be great tires as well.

You do know, don't you, that those 235/60R16 tires you put on your car are a different overall diameter/are taller than the stock 225/60R16 tires that are the OEM size? I'm not exactly sure what the size difference is, but they're going to rotate slightly less times per mile than the stock size tires did. I'm not sure how much that difference would affect your computer or speedometer.

Friend and I discussed getting matching tires, he can get me a good deal due to where he works. So i am going with the BF Goodrich Advantage T/A.

Does anyone know what they put on at the factory? Was it Goodyear Eagles of some kind ? I'm also thinking Eagle Sport...

They are just a slightly larger tire. I did some research here and people have had good results with them. My speedometer is right on according to my GPS and an app I downloaded on my phone.

I want to say that, at least on the '96-'97's with the sport option and 16" wheels, that the OE tire Ford used were Goodyear Eagle GT +4 tires. I thought I read that somewhere a while ago, but I can't be positive.

They are just a slightly larger tire. I did some research here and people have had good results with them. My speedometer is right on according to my GPS and an app I downloaded on my phone.
I'm glad they're working out well for you!

The "Stock" tire size is listed in the 95 .pdf is for a 15" wheel/tire combo to be 792 revolutions per mile, and the 16" sport wheels were 784 revolutions per mile.

An original vs later transmission will affect this, as the later transmissions have an 8-tooth gear instead of out original 7 tooth design.

A 225/55-16 (808) tire is almost the same diameter as a 225/60-15 (813); both will work with the purple gear on a 3.27 rear car with a 8-tooth tranny, and be within 5 mph at 70mph.

Going smaller is harder... :)

After a bit of debate, and using the fact that he wants his crown vic to be mroe policey... Goodyear Eagle Sport, a nod towards the nascar heritage of my car, and the fact that cops use the Eagle RS-A.

225/60/R16 in V Rated, 115 bucks each at sears.

try tire rack that's where I get most of my tires from to match if I need two of them.

but mount and balance and tire disposal should be about the same if not less

The difference between 215/70-15 and 235/60-15 is almost identical to 225/60-16. It's all pretty negligible seeing how the speedometers aren't set based on tire size, they all got set the same from the factory.

At least the Cougars with the sport package got 225 60 16 Goodyear Eagle GT+4's in 1997. I can't imagine the Thunderbirds weren't any different as they were rolling off the same lines.

Thats what the brochure said and that's what was on my car. When it was time to replace them in the summer of 2004 because the sidewalls where starting to weather check at about 23,000 miles I searched the web for info on them regarding replacement as they had been discontinued by that time. They had the reputation as the all season sport tire that did nothing well. Bad winter traction. Bad rain traction. Not a very good ride. Noisy and didn't handle particularily well. And they wore out fast. In other words the perfect compromise ;)

I bought a set of T/A Sport Touring radials and they seemed better in every regard.

Once i get the Goodyears on i will take a photo of my car for the Mark II version of it unveiling. With the new front lights, the tint removed, the sport wheels, it will be a major overhaul of the look. Taking it from worn out 1996 to Worn paint 1996.

I don't plan to go with making the letters white, or yellow...doesn't fit our cars, now a 1983-1988...that would look good. but due to the modern lines of the MN12 (still to this day) it won't fit the look of the car.
