Not sure what to go with. $150 is my budget on a pair. I'd rather keep it around $100 a pair, unless I'm getting twice as much quality. I'm looking at MB Quart, Infinity, and possibly Polk. Give me an idea on what would be best. I have 6.5" up front, and 6x8 in the rear. One of the current tweeters is junk, but I don't want to have to replace the speakers with 2 or 3-ways. I cut a hole out for the tweeters and don't want to have to mess with it anymore. I'm thinking of going the route of Infinity components on front and back (6010CS and 6812CF). Any other suggestions are welcome. CarDomain has the 105% lowest-price price-matching, so if you see a lower price somewhere, let me know. CarDomain looks cheaper than Crutchfield, has great shipping, and I've dealt with them before, so I'd like to stick with them.

6"x8"s (I'm thinking either Audiobahns, or the Infinity components)

I don't think I could go with Alpine. With all the other speakers I've looked at, I think I could do better than Alpine.

Are those component at that price? The speakers I looked at ranged from $100-150 a pair, shipped.

I like the look of those Polk, but I'd like them to match, as far as model goes. About the best deal IMO, are the Infinity 6.5" and 6"x8" components for like $104-113 each pair. So for about $220 I could have new speakers.

I bought some Diamond 5.25" speakers from DMcBrideBoston that should be here soon. Not sure if I want to include those, or maybe have something running off my little Alpine amp and using 6 speakers. Been thinking of building a console, but I'm not sure about keeping the Bronco. Most speakers I can get to carry over to another vehicle, or at least force them into another vehicle.

i've been thinking about getting some type s 5x7 (or 6x8) speakers for all around......also thinking about doing 6.5"s type s in the rear deck. are they worth 120 a pair?? are you talking about the components? if that is the case that sounds about right.......probably go w/ comps. in front, 5x7"s and 6.5"s coaxial in rear.

Try to stay away from oval speakers. You are better off creating a template and putting round speakers, 6.5" in the doors, then use your a-pillars for tweeter locations. Try to place them mid level from the bottom of the windshield, to the top of the windshield. I have also placed my tweeters behind the rear view mirror, one on each side with decent results.

You will never get as good a sound through an oval speaker as you would through a round.

Fronts are 6.5", and I already have the tweeters cut into the sheet metal of the door from 2+ years ago, so I don't want to do any more with that.

As far as the rear speakers, I'm not sure whether to go with the Audiobahn 6x8s that have the round speaker, like a 4", with a tweeter to the side, or just use my Diamond 5.25" that I'm getting from DMcBride and use a template, like you said. The tweeter is on a frame in front of the cone, instead of going through the cone, like most 2/3-way speakers come. The Audiobahns would be $55 shipped. The rear speakers are attatched to the panel that screws into the door. Only other way would be to make a panel that attatches straight to the door and either cover in brownish-tan vinyl or paint.
