I'm thinking of picking up a new/old project car of mine. It's a 68 LeMans. It was my girls car back in the day. I took out the tired Pontiac 350 and dropped in a 10K RPM SB Chevy 350 (dirt track motor) She wanted to whip the snot out of the 5.0's, so I built her an Mustang eater... :D

The long and the short of it is. Shortly after we broke up she got in a fender bender. Daddy took the car to the insurance company for an estimate, saw how the car drove and promptly took it away from her. He jacked it up and yanked the front spindles to keep her from driving it. It's been sitting that way since 01

I ran into her father a little while back. He offered to sell me the car, wants me to have it. He bought it new and wants it to go to a good home. The only problem is he lost the title long ago.

To get to the point: How much trouble will I have getting a title for the car? He's an old man with failing health. I'd hate to ask him to do any more than sign a bill of sale.

Side note: He's been storing my 455 and drive train out of my burned to a crisp, long gone, and dearly missed 71 LeMans. (my car had to be faster than hers...) :D

I'd love to get rid of that 350 send that 455 to it's new home...

Yes, he is the registered owner and original buyer.... As I tried to mentioned before, he is in very poor health. The man went out of his way to take care of me a few years ago. I'm not about to ask him to leave the house or jump through hoops and stand in line to sell me the car.

I would just like to try to make things as easy for him as I can. If there's a long road for me to get the car titled and not make the old man go out of his way I'll take it, I owe him at least that much...

The ladies up at the title offices have seen it all. I do a bunch of transfers and just talk them up. If you talk to them a bit they will tell you everything you need to know to get it done and simply. In fact they will even fill out a check sheet of things you need to bring back.

I bought a truck (which is for sale now cheap, $500) and the idiots had signed the title about 4 times. As many times as it had been sold. I had to go find the orginal owner, Fransico Mata, and get him to write a letter stating he was the one selling me the truck and all was well with the world.

Fransisco was a very nice person. I even married them. ;)
