I just changed my coolant and my refill tank was empty when I started the engine. The low coolant light came on like all the other lights do when the ignition is first engaged. The low coolant light went off even though the tank is empty. The wire connection is attached. I even unplugged and reconnected it to make sure that it was not a loose connection. There is a black float that goes up and down depending on how much coolant is in the tank, this float is moving freely also. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Disconnect the connector at the level sensor, and use a paperclip or other small wire to short across the connector (not the actual sensor itself, the wiring that leads to it) and if the light comes on and stays on, the sensor in the tank is bad. if not, then there is a wiring issue somewhere.
