Magnaflow DI/DO without cats?

Anybody running this setup? Every pic I've seen or thread I've read has the di/do with cats. My car doesn't have any cats and I was thinking about going to this setup. How will it sound? I have 2 1/2 inch pipes ran already with magnaflows in the back and the di/do in the middle. I went this route so not to lose too much backpressure with the 2 1/2 inch pipes. It's just not loud enough and I'd like to remove one or the other.

you have 3 mufflers? go to exhaust thread and listyen ot the clips then just figure louder than what u hear on them.
just cut the rear mufflers off and see how it sounds. If you dont like it, have them welded back on for ~20 bucks.

My DOHC swap is going to have stock manifolds with no cats, X pipe, 2 1/2" pipes to a DI/DO magnaflow internal X, for a total of 2 x pipes, then dumps at the rear differential. It'll be loud, thats the way I like it. DOHC's sound good loud without cats.

No cats on mine right now,and my exhaust is setup almost the same. DI/DO in the center, and a pair of 2.5" magnaflows out back.

Gentlemen:
What size DI/DO did you use? Not sure about the 4Hx9WX20L Oval fitting. Of course would be 2.5ID. Have a '92 Sport. TIA. Burt

I'm using the 5x8x20 SS model. #14468.

I'm doing mine in a couple weeks (as soon as my backordered muffler shows up:mad: ). DOHC, stock manifolds, 2.5 duals, no cats, 4x9 DI/DO Tru-X Magnaflow, and that's it. I'll let you know how it sounds. I'm thinking it might be a little loud, as I think that's the smallest Magnaflow you can get with the Tru-X in 2.5 DI/DO configuration. Most here seem to be running the 5x8 Magnaflow, which is 4 inces longer. Bigger muffler typically=quieter. We'll see how it turns out.

smokymance with his dyno video... i know his exhaust is catless, dual in single out magnaflow muffler..

starts as 2.5 from the down pipes to the muffler, then a 3 inch back to the diff..

listen on his dyno video..

My exact plans. Nice. It'll be cool to have a sound clip before I get mine done. Except I have cobra cams and ported everytyhing so it'll sound slightly different, but probably not by much. There's a local guy from MN with that setup but with stock cats and it sounds awesome, not too loud, but not too quiet. But the cats quiet it down a lot too.

I am running, JBA Headers, A.R.T. 2.5in exhaust with no cats, a DI/DO Magnaflow, and just 18in tips out back. I am extremely happy with the way it sounds, I dont think I'll ever change my exhaust again except for the addition of a good set of headers (kooks), which I see you already have. Its a very agressive tone, pretty loud part throttle and really loud WOT. I would say you could try removing the rear mufflers and if its louder than you want you could always have them put back on. I would say for my tastes (being 18) that my car is just about as loud as I would ever want it though, a bit quieter would be good. As far as tone, it probably sounds faster than it is lol.
