Well, I don't want to go cheap on my engine. But I am looking at a $200 price difference in the two. Manley being the more expensive at $600-ish. Its not really the HP that kills the rods, its the RPM capabillity. I just can't decide. I know eale makes some good stuff too. Chris

From what I understand, Manley and Eagle are pretty much the same as far as power handling ability (speaking the same type of rod and fasteners). Eagle comes in cheaper since they purchase materials from other countries. I believe they get forged blanks from China.

Manley did get the nod from Ford for the '03 Cobra, so...

I've had both rods right here, and they're identical. The Manley has a matte finish, and the Eagle has a shiny finish, other than that-they're identical in construction.
The Eagles do come with the good ARP 2000 series bolts, whereas the Manley comes with the ARP 8740 bolt-a lesser quality bolt that has failed several times in higher powered cars.
Throw 2 more in the mix....Modmax and Scat-they're the same rod forging as the perviously mentioned parts.

JL...which would you use. 10-12psi Vortech blown, cobra crank, cobra block, blower ported heads, custom forged blower pistons (8.5:1), custom blower cams, valvetrain work, and all the bolt-ons.

I assembled a good friend's with Eagle H-Beams(ARP 2K bolts)..and it's got a Vortech S-Trim with a custom 3.0" pulley,Renegade's ported NPI's 8.5:1 CR,etc..etc.

My Manley rod took a major hit when a 7mm bolt got sucked into the chamber and did not fail so keep that in mind. I do have the better ARP bolts tho so be sure to use those in whatever you decide.

I'd go with the Manley rods......that's what I got with the ARP bolts as well.

Dr. FrankenCougie: How did that happen????

WOW!!!!! I know that had to suck. Didn't know you were tore up too. Man.....I must have been away alot longer than I thought. Well, I now know about what my motor can take.....once I get the fuel mixture worked out.

Take it easy man. Maybe one day I'll get to see the COUGIE in all it's glory.
