i have a 95 mark viii, which has moisture problems in the drivers side door which i need to adress, causes the door lock to freeze in cold weather, on warm days it DID work fine. one day it was cold and i made the mistake of trying to open the door from the inside when the lock was frozen, i pulled the handle a little hard and i felt something break or snap out of place. the door opened and the lock was still down. pulled the lock up with a pair of pliers. when the weather warmed up it started working as usual. now a new problem, when i'm sitting in the car, i open the door, the door is SUPPOSED to unlock, but it doesn't.

how does the door stay locked when i open it from the inside, and do you know how i can fix it? i've had the door inside off a few times and i can get a good view in there to see exactly what's going on.
